Voluntary Sector Representative Opportunities
Voluntary Voice Stakeholders 2016
One of the ways in which the voice of our sector is heard is through the Voluntary Voice
programme. Voluntary Voice is the process through which representatives from voluntary
organisations obtain their mandate to speak on behalf of the sector on various county strategic
partnerships.
In addition to the mandated representatives for the county strategic partnerships, there are also
has a number of Voluntary Voice Stakeholders. The Stakeholders are sector specialists who
have a specific interest in and experience of a particular area who are available to attend
meetings at short notice and on an ad hoc basis.
Voluntary Voice Stakeholders will be required to report back to the sector using the voluntary
voice processes and when it is possible to collect views from the sector before a meeting if time
allows. Reimbursement for Voluntary Voice Stakeholders is available.
Devon Voluntary Action (DeVA) co-ordinates the Voluntary Voice programme. In this round of
recruitment we are looking for Voluntary Voice Stakeholders for seven areas of interest.
The process of recruiting Voluntary Voice Stakeholders is as follows:

Launch of areas of interest

Expressions of Interest submitted * - EOI must be received by midday Friday 22nd
January 2016

Nominated Stakeholders held on file

Results announced to the sector

Stakeholders contacted as required ** the skills audit submitted as part of their
Expression of Interest will be used to determine the most appropriate Stakeholder.
* Candidates need to be nominated by their organisation and complete a skills audit
** The completed skills audit submitted as part of their Expression of Interest will be used to
determine the most appropriate Stakeholder to attend on a case-by-case basis.
What will Stakeholders be expected to do? Stakeholders will:

Be asked to speak on behalf of the wider VCS sector (not just their own organisation) to
ensure that the views and experiences of the sector are included in discussions.

Be expected to attend meetings (or forums etc.) as required and their original organisation
will need to understand the commitment this entails.

Be expected to actively participate in meetings and take note of the relevant issues to
report back to the wider sector via Voluntary Voice.

Communicate with the people they represent before and after meetings using the
Voluntary Voice team and the formal reporting processes.

Respect the confidentiality of any sensitive material disclosed during meetings and to
declare any conflicts of interest (e.g. if services are being designed which their organisation might
later wish to tender.)
