MIDDLE SCHOOL SPANISH 1- (A-B) FOR 7TH AND 8TH GRADE 7TH GRADE 1.1 7TH In Students will compare and contrast their knowledge of English in the following areas in comparison to what they will learn in the target language: in grammar, in writing, in reading, social studies and mathematics. Out Students can easily describe their world around them in the target language. i.e.; name, age, nationality, descriptive adjectives, family members, school, foods, and likes & dislikes using the verbs ser, estar, tener, and present tense verbs. M Students will demonstrate basic proficiency in the presentation of specific topics using varying media and practice such as PowerPoint, websites, short dialogues, projects with rubrics for assessments, basic dictations in the target language. (This can be cotaught with the Media Specialist.) D Students will be introduced to TPR (Total Physical Response) with specialized vocabulary such as commands and prepositions. i.e.; touch your head, walk to the right, turn to the left, pick up, bring, and give, example Simon Says game in the target language. I Students will begin to learn specified vocabulary related to the town and community through the usage of prepositions map reading and giving directions. I Students can complete guided generic forms in the target language. i.e.; student identification forms. M Student will demonstrate awareness, acceptance and the appreciation of the diverse culture through the various technological formats. i.e.; internet, various media such as books, newspapers, TV commercials, geographical knowledge and related vocabulary. D Students will acquire and demonstrate basic proficiency through speaking and writing short paragraphs i.e.; using thematic vocabulary in the present tense, prepositions and adjectives to describe likes or dislikes, specifically describing school, family, friends and weather. M D Students will exhibit greater proficient writing discussing, expressing, and reporting on specific topics using varying rubrics and practices such as peer sharing, post cards, singing and technological resources. i.e. La Quinceañera, (fifteen birthday) with its similarities and differences to the American sixteenth birthday D Students will use TPR (Total Physical Response) based on prior knowledge of common classroom expressions and commands. i.e.; move to the right, to the left take steps, pick up, bring, and give, Simon Says in the target language. Students will write directions in Spanish, exchange directions and find locations through the usage of more specific prepositions. i.e.; students exchange Spanish directions for locations within the school building, as well as geographical locations upon maps. D Students will be asking and answering basic general questions in Spanish; students can create and complete daily schedules, passports, identification forms, and job applications. M Students can verbally express themselves and produce short paragraphs through usage of the present tense, irregular verbs (stem-changing, and irregular “yo”), prepositions and adjectives likes or dislikes, specifically describing foods, school, family, friends, clothing , weather, leisure activities and community with more detail. M Students will exhibit, an expanded awareness, acceptance and appreciation of the diverse culture through multicultural endeavors through field trips, music and dance.
