Plays – oral presentation

For this oral presentation I ask that you open your minds to the possibilities that plays
offer. You will have a choice to present:
 A play you wrote (ex: writing practice group work)
 A play that already exists
 Compare and contrast a play and a movie
 A famous playwright
Your presentation must include:





Effort
2 audiovisual methods (video, music, poster, ppt, object, costume, etc)
No more than 5 words per slide (if you choose to present on ppt)
Preparation
At least 5 minutes each
Remember that you are now young adults and as such you are expected to
deliver quality presentations.  The following sheets will describe in detail
what each subject choice means.
A play you wrote / A play that already exists (production):
For this presentation you will be asked to perform a short play or a
scene of a play of your choice. You will have to have the following
elements:
Decor (can be minimalist)
A storyline that is easily followed
Story must follow sequence of events
Explain why you chose to present this play
You need to have a question period and try your best to
answer any questions.
Pick or create a play that inspires you and have fun!
A play you wrote / A play that already exists (analysis):
For this presentation you will be asked to explain a short play or a
scene of a play of your choice. You will have to have the following
elements:
Explain the characters and their importance to the story
Explain the plot of the play
Explain the decor of the play
Explain when it was written and the significance of this
You need to have a question period and try your best to
answer any questions.
Pick or create a play that inspires you and have fun!
Compare and contrast a play that already exists
For this presentation you will be asked to compare and contrast a
play and a movie. You will have to have the following elements:
Explain how the two are linked
Explain the similarities
Explain the differences
Offer any background info needed to understand the two
stories (ex: who wrote it, why, when, ...)
Explain which is better and back up your opinion with
arguments
Pick or create a play/movie that inspires you and have fun!
A famous playwright
For this presentation you will be asked to present a famous
playwright and his work. You will have to have the following
elements:
Give a history of this playwright’s life
Present at least three plays that this playwright has written
and briefly explain their storyline
Explain what type of play this person tends to write
Explain why you chose this playwright and which of his or
her plays you like most.
