ORGAN UPDATE AND DEMONSTRATION
Following the decision of our March Church
Meeting, a demonstration of an electronic
organ by Makin Organs has been arranged
for 7pm on Thursday 30 June at St
Andrew’s. The evening will last no more than
1½ hours and will include a talk (with an
opportunity
for
questions),
some
demonstration playing and congregational
singing. The electronic organ will remain in
church for a few Sundays once installed. Our
Church Meeting on Wednesday 22 June
(7.30pm) will be invited to consider whether
it will be timely before the summer break to
arrange an Additional or Special Church
Meeting to consider the way forward for our
organ church music. Alongside this, Elders
have arranged for a second assessment of
our existing organ by another pipe organ
firm, from which we anticipate receiving
another quote for repair/refurbishment.

CCJ ANNUAL PUBLIC LECTURE
To be given by The Archbishop of York,
His Grace Dr John Sentamu
Tuesday 28 June 7.30pm
Each year, at the invitation of the Lord Mayor,
the Leeds branch of the Council of Christians
and Jews invites a prominent person from the
Jewish or the Christian community to give a
Public Lecture to which the city of Leeds is
invited. This is to be held in the Banqueting
Suite of the Civic Hall, and all Leeds people,
whether a member of the Jewish or the
Christian community, or of neither, are invited
to be present. I regret that I am not able to
send you information about the title of Dr.
Sentamu’s address, but he is rightly hailed as
a creative thinker, and as one with a
reputation for courage in bringing his ideas
into action. Please take this opportunity to
come to listen to a leader in the Christian
Church who is a major force in Church affairs
as we face the immense changes which the
coming years will require of us. Should you
have any queries please e-mail me
(robertway1234@yahoo.co.uk) or telephone
me (0113 281 7154).
(The Revd) Robert J Way
