Martin Leatherman, 81, who moved from his farm home in Jefferson Township, to
Elkhart 6 years, ago, died at 2 pm Wednesday of last week at his home, after an illness of
several months. Death was caused by cancer and complications.
Mr. Leatherman was born in Harrison Township on Feb. 14, 1864, a son of Mr. and Mrs.
Jacob Leatherman. In 1888 he married Margaret Leatherman, who survives with 2
daughters, Mrs. Harry Kelly of Kankakee, Ill., and Mrs. Harvey Corbin of Goshen; 4
grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Daniel Leatherman of Chicago, and
Levi Leatherman of Elkhart.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm Saturday at the Culp Funeral Home in Goshen in
charge of the Rev. John Gingerich, pastor of the Prairie Street Mennonite Church of
which Mr. Leatherman was a member. Burial, in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
