Hingham Girls Varsity Coach Ryan Puntiri Coach Puntiri graduated from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical/Health Education. Coach Puntiri earned a Master’s Degree in Health Education from Cambridge College. Coach Puntiri holds an NSCAA National Diploma (Passed with Distinction) and will be awarded his NSCAA Advanced National Diploma this January in Ft. Lauderdale. Along with coaching the Hingham Varsity Girl’s Soccer Team, Coach Puntiri is in his 11th year as a Physical Education Teacher at East Middle School in Braintree, MA. Coach Puntiri has owned his own business for the past 8 years, Puntiri Painting and Powerwashing. Coach Puntiri’s College Playing Career While at Canisius, Coach Puntiri was a four-year member of the Soccer and Hockey Teams, and was elected Captain of both in his senior year. Coach Puntiri set the All-Time Soccer Assist Record at Canisius College and was ranked 9th and 13th nationally (NCAA Division I) in his junior and senior years. He was a 2 time MAAC All-Conference Player, and also was a member of the MAAC Disney Wide World of Sports All-Tournament Team. He led the team in points and assists in both his Junior and Senior Years. Coach Puntiri won the Tom Chapman Unsung Hero Award in his Junior Year for the Canisius College Hockey Team. Coach Puntiri kicked for the Football Team in his senior year and set a school record with a 63-yard punt. Upon graduation from Canisius, Coach Puntiri signed a professional contract with the New Hampshire Phantoms of the D3 Professional Soccer League. Coach Puntiri’s Coaching Career Scorpions Soccer Club, 7 years Coach Puntiri was a member of the Scorpions Club Soccer staff for 7 seasons. He was a staff coach for 5 years. Coach P’s Team, which he started with at U12, became a Two-Time State Champions and US Region 1 Finalists. Most of the players on Coach P’s team went on to play Division 1 College Soccer. Most notably was Kristie Mewis, who now attends Boston College, and has been a member of the U20 National, U23 National, and was one of the final 8 to be released from this year’s World Cup Team in Germany. Kristie is a favorite for National Team in the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in London. Archbishop Williams Boys Varsity Soccer Coach, 3 Years Coach Puntiri turned the AW boys program around. After a 3-13-2 season, prior to Coach P’s arrival, they went 11-7-1 the following year, and continued with 9-5-4, and 12-5-1 seasons thereafter. Archbishop Williams qualified for postseason play in each of Coach P’s three seasons. Braintree HS Girls Varsity Soccer Asst Coach, 3 Years Coach Puntiri - Assisted the Braintree High Girls Team that won back to back Massachusetts Division I State Championships Hingham HS Girls Varsity Coach, 5th Season Under Coach Puntiri, the Hingham Girls Varsity Soccer Team has qualified for the MIAA State Tournament 3 out of the last 4 years, after not qualifying for the previous 6 years.
