Ms Jane Mountain

The Board will note with regret the death of Ms Mountain in January 2015. Ms Mountain
joined the staff of the University in 2006 when Aramark staff working in the de Havilland
Campus restaurant became employees of the University. A letter of condolence has
been sent to her family.
Ms Jo Davies
The Board will be saddened to learn of the death of Ms Davies on 17 November 2014.
Ms Davies worked from the 1970s in the Hatfield Polytechnic’s Division of Computer
Science, rising to Deputy Head until her retirement. A letter of condolence has been
sent to her family and the University was represented at her funeral on 2 December 2014.

To note the appointment of Professor M Biggs as Emeritus Professor with effect from
2 February 2015.

Dr O Corazza as Reader in Substance Addictions and Behaviours in the School of
Life Sciences with effect from 1 January 2015;

Dr F Gagliardi as Reader in Institutional Economics in the Hertfordshire Business
School with effect from 1 January 2015;

Dr M Cioni as Reader in Astronomy in the School of Physics, Astronomy and
Mathematics with effect from 24 February 2015.
Science and Technology Research Institute (STRI)
To note that, following 10 years of leadership of the STRI, Professor P H Kaye has
stood down as its Director of Research with effect from 31 December 2014 and that
Professor H R A Jones has been appointed as the Institute’s Director of Research with
effect from 1 January 2015.
