With a passion for developing new techniques, Lucas J.X. Kolasa works in a wide range of mediums which include but are not limited to painting, sculpture and digitally rendered three dimensional imagery. Lucas is very aware of his carbon footprint and attempts to make a very small one with the creation of his artwork, including creating intricate figure sculptures and busts using recycled materials. Lucas is currently developing new pointillism techniques using paint filled syringes, creating detailed and intricate portraits. His new series of work includes works in acrylic, oil, watercolor, and gauche. Lucas has a great deal of compassion for the planet and people who are less fortunate, and he takes inspiration from the experiences he has personally had during his years of charity and volunteer work. Lucas has demonstrated through his work that the world is a violent, beautiful and always unpredictable place to live. Born in November 1974 in the town of Cheektowaga, Lucas J.X. Kolasa was raised near the blue collar, ethnically rich Buffalo, New York, an area well known for its automobile and steel industry, and world famous for its cold winters. Demonstrating his natural born artistic talent, Lucas had his first gallery showing at age 17 at the renowned Albright Knox Art Museum located in downtown Buffalo, New York. Wanting to learn more about art and artists and to experience what influenced others, he began a path of travel, painting, sculpting, and exploring his own limitless boundaries. Currently he resides in Providence, R.I. where he maintains a fulltime studio. Outside of the art world Lucas J.X. Kolasa is deeply committed to charity and volunteer work. He’s actively involved with Edesia, PBS, the NewPort Art Museum, Love146, Wickford Art Association, Art-a-Thon for Haiti and an Aids Organization, Peace one Day, CityYear, and a Soup Kitchen. He also regularly donates art supplies and auctions off his art to support the Children’s Hospital, Aperion Group, RedCross, and the Study and Practice of Non-Violence. The artwork of Lucas J.X.
