According to the EPA, recycled paper uses 74% less air pollution and 35% less water than using virgin materials. It reduces greenhouse gas emissions and eases demand for natural resources including timber and minerals. Recycling has provided over 25,000 jobs in Georgia. Our mill in Dublin, Georgia uses over 100 truckloads of paper per day to generate their 100% recycled fiber. EVERY FULL RED/GREEN PAPER RECYCLING BIN: Saves a 6 foot by 6 foot space in the landfill Saves 17 trees / 6 barrels of oil Every 2000 pounds of paper recycled saves, enough energy to heat the average home for 6 months. Each year the U.S. generates enough trash to bury 26,000 football fields in a layer 10 feet deep. WE NEED YOUR PAPER… SP Newsprint is one of the nation’s largest producers of 100% recycled newsprint. The process begins by purchasing paper from churches, schools, civic organizations, paper stock dealers, municipalities, waste haulers and newspaper publishers. The paper is then transported to our Mill in Dublin, GA. The Mill uses over 100+ tractor trailer loads of paper per day to produce 100% recycled newsprint and employs approximately 300 Georgians. That is why paper from right here in Georgia is so important to SP Recycling. Once at the mill, the paper is de-inked, cleaned, processed and transformed into rolled newsprint and distributed to publishers throughout the United States. The paper that goes into a green & red bin today can be part of the Atlanta Journal Constitution you read next week. To get involved locally simply identify one space in the parking lot to have the bin placed. Try to select a spot that is accessible to the building and may be visible to the community – the more paper collected the better. SP pays current market rate for paper to the department of your choice, checks are paid quarterly. There is no contract required. The program is not only a fund raiser, but it reduces the amount of waste many organizations pay to a trash hauler. It really is a win – win situation.
