Treasurers Report Tom Hitchcock, SDAHA President report attached Team assessments: some still outstanding need to be collected. SDAHA is ahead of last year financially Move to approve treasurers report by Dave Tronnes of Mitchell and second by Duke Witte of Aberdeen. So moved. Registrars Report Mary Held, SDAHA Registrar Online registration is going well all but two associations are participating. Would like to see the board consider mandating online registration. Team count hand out was given to board. Numbers of players for associations have gone up or maintained. Change coming up for 2010 -11 season. Birth certificates will be no longer be included in books due to privacy. Birth certificates for all players must be sent to Mary along with rosters. Coaches CEP certification report 58 out of 352 not showing up. Locals make sure they have their cards. Registrars can run this report to check certification. Locals and Coaches make sure all tournaments are sanctioned. Risk Managers Report Dawn Magee, SDAHA Risk Manager Back ground checks are due in from associations by December 1st. . Don’t wait until you have them all, send them in as you receive them. A request to locals for back ground checks for all new board members, coaches and existing board members (10% of existing board members are picked for checks) Rob Anderson from Pierre and Vince Jones from Sioux Falls are working on a proposal for the fall meeting on what flags to look for on back ground checks. Officials Report Doug Sorenson, SDAHA Referee in Chief Reported that we are lacking in level 3 and 2 referees. He would like to see and increase in numbers and better assignments at the lower level tournament to help younger referees get experience. Seminars will be posted on the state web site. Working on an evaluation process for referees. Proposes a separate scheduler for the boys JV/varsity and girls varsity levels. Training seminars for level 3 - these will be 8 hours long - ice time is needed. Locals will let Doug know of available ice time. Officials Scheduling report Jodi Sterrett, Officials Scheduler Scheduling of refs was very difficult due to lack of time and refs available. Coaches Report Randy Honkomp, SD Coach in Chief Report was handed out. ACE coordinator. Doug Pietz Level 4 coaching clinic August 20-22 in Billings MT Will be attending ACE meeting in Casper WY in September Player Development Vince Foley Development camps for younger ages will be set at $25.00 for up to 90 skaters. Seminars for parents received a low response. Boys u14 and u16 camps are set for April 23 - 24th There will be a weekend taken in the fall for the younger players. A report was given on the u14 nationals team. Fundraising covered all expenses of the team and coaches. SDAHA contribution of $ 3000.00 was used for jerseys, socks, shells, and bags. Discipline Committee report Dan French, Vice President SDAHA Unsportsmanship like conduct is increasing. Raffs are cracking down by giving out penalty for such conduct. Would like a committee formed to write up a policy on cyber threats. State Scheduler Maxine Tronnes, SDAHA Executive Assistant Request for all schedulers to send in tournament dates and available ice time. Senior Showcase Mary Held 75 seniors attended 2009 senior showcase. Skills camp was held on Friday night and a breakfast was held on Saturday. Would like to change registration date for next year and combine both the girls and boys. Would like to see more coaching participation. Would like to check on which weekend works best for the showcase. Web Site Update Ron Dobesh Pointstreak contract is up this year. Looking for more options pucksystems.com and MN Hockey Hub. Will bring a proposal for contract to the fall meeting. Association Reports Aberdeen - Numbers at lower groups going up. Rebuilding year for numbers. Zamboni replacement Brookings – Busy year with new construction. Varsity Tournament went very well. Would like to build numbers up at the lower levels. Summer ice from June 28th to season . Ice rental time available. Camps will be listed on website. Huron- Working on rink lighting and ceiling. Big numbers at upper levels. Working on promoting growth in lower levels. July Planet Hockey camp will be taking place. JV tournament successful. Mitchell – Numbers are up in lower levels. Will have ice earlier this upcoming season. Pierre – Fort Pierre- Numbers down in lower levels. Working on promoting growth at those levels. New lighting going in this summer. Rapid City (Rushmore) – Continuous work in rink improvements. numbers up. Rate increase for utilities. Sioux Center – More growth in all groups. Cross ice program for squirts (first half of season cross ice second half tournament play) Jamborees will be held the 2nd weekend of November and Thanksgiving weekend for JV. Sioux Falls - High numbers but no ice. New lease with expo for next season. New lights will be installed at expo. Active committee working on a new facility. Thank You to Sioux Center for help with the Girls Varsity State tournament. New Board coming in with lots of new members. Watertown - Numbers are up due to park and recreation program implemented this year. Using concept much like Sioux Center in lower groups. Yankton – Numbers are steady. Possible varsity team next year at boys level. SDAHA Past President/Northern Plaines USAHA Director report Dave Tronnes, SDAHA Past President/NPD District Director This year there is a great focus on encouraging states to participate in National Tournaments. USA Hockey - Coaches CEP certification, training coaches for each level each year. Drop girls U12 class and only have U14 direction is ADM Proposal at USA for coaches and officials to work together to maintain order during games. Eliminating membership cards - email with be sent with numbers. Celebrity hunt to help fund the scholarships for SD hockey seniors. To be help in Mitchell on October 2931st. More information to come. Looking for Corporate sponsors. SDAHA President report Tom Hitchcock, SDAHA President Fall meeting will be held in Rapid City in conjunction with the NPD meeting. Date to be announced (August 22 and 23rd or the 28th and 29th). Vince will be entering a U16 boys team in the national tournament. Acknowledgment of Brookings great job on the Boys Varsity State Tournament. Great TV coverage and outstanding sportsmanship.
