Donna This is a real accomplishment for the UNIT! I agree 100% that "This is one of the many benefits of our CoLA/CEHS collaborative partnership. Our quarterly forums and TEC meetings provide opportunities for continual improvement of the program besides regular communications with the day to day operations." The CEHS/CoLA collaborative is absolutely essential to this success! Dr. Carol Engelhard has been vital in ensuring that History and Social Science Content is rigorous and aligned with the ten NCSS Standards. Together we provide a superior program. Yes, it is especially rare for IHEs to receive National Recognition from NCSS. Congratulations are due to the many WSU professionals who contributed in many, many ways. Thanks Ron Great News! We've just received official notification from NCATE that our Integrated Social Studies program has successfully passed the National Council of Social Studies (NCSS) SPA report review and received National Recognition! Please share this news with faculty who teach and have assisted with the development, implementation, and assessment process of the AYA Integrated Social Studies program. This is one of the many benefits of our CoLA/CEHS collaborative partnership. Our quarterly forums and TEC meetings provide opportunities for continual improvement of the program besides regular communications with the day to day operations. Special thanks to Dr. Ron Helms, for his knowledge, skills, and expertise as our NCSS SPA author and national NCSS reviewer. His dedication and extensive time it took writing the report, while assisting others (locally and nationally) understand NCSS requirements, plus teach and coordinate the AYA program, is juggling in its finest form :-) I know the hours and numerous revisions taken to yield national recognition, which is especially rare for IHEs to receive from NCSS. Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated! Donna
