Notes from August 30, 2011

After a welcome from President Bob Starr, Jeanne
Zetah, filling in for Chuck Martz, provided an
invocation written by Paul Harris.
SERGEANT AT ARMS REPORT
Guest included visiting Rotarian William Weingarden
(Edina Noon) and prospective members Vince Vanella
(Waste Management) and Anita Rieder (Rotary
International – moved to EP from Evanston IL).
CATHY HAUKEDAHL
Cathy Haukedahl Vocational – Born in Brooklyn Park,
Cathy lettered 5 times in High School. Cathy has
worked in several banking positions in her career and
told of a very dramatic incident in which she was
wounded in an armed robbery which became the
subject of a segment of America’s Most Wanted
resulting in the arrest and conviction of members of a
national organized gang. As a result, Cathy is under
protected status and is informed if the convicted
individuals are released. Cathy is very driven and
resulted in several rapid promotions. Cathy enjoys
politics and world history. Cathy lives in EP with her
family.
STUDENT GUESTS
Dave Anderson introduced two EPHS student athletes:
 Kay Peterson (Captain of Volleyball team) –
Kay enjoys volleyball and badminton which
she joined with her best friend. She is active
in school and church organizations and wants
to attend Georgetown or NYU and work with
the Peace Corps for a while after graduating.
 Andrew Larson (Captain of Football team) –
Andrew is the youngest of three boys.
Andrew is a running back on the team and he
is a Fellowship of Christian Athletes and
bible study leader. Andrew has a 3.87 GPA
and would like to play football in college and
get a degree in business or economics with a
minor in Spanish.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Bob Starr and Milla Mosa exchanged Rotary
flags and Milla spoke of recent trips to
Chicago and Bayfield WI.


Steve Tasler reminded everyone to bring in
their contributions to the Wall of Wine and to
sell tickets for the Vino Classico (10/15).
Steve Callendar will be sending out a e-mail
asking members to assist in selling corporate
sponsorships.
Bob Starr announced that 17 people have
signed up for the golf outing and he
encouraged them to invite prospects when the
date and time are announced.
Bob Starr provided another membership
minute encouraging members to recruit
members and highlight future membership
events. Bob also talked about the attendance
and dues requirements, which will be
communicated via e-mail and on the
clubrunner site.
VIRTUAL RADIOLOGIC
Bob Starr Introduced Les Mann who is a VP of
Marketing for Virtual Radiologic located in the
Windsor Plaza in EP. Mr. Mann was previously with
US Oncology and the US Navy. He informed the club
that his father is a 50 year Rotarian including 42 years
of perfect attendance.
Virtual Radiologic is a combination technology
company and radiology practice founded in 2001 by
two local physicians. They employ more than 400
radiologists all over the world and they provide
services to 2,700 hospitals and imaging centers
providing 7,000,000 studies annually. The Company
went public in 2007 and was taken private in 2010
when Providence Equity Partners purchased them.
2011 Revenue projected at $284,000,000.Images are
reviewed and reports provided remotely within 30
minutes of the scan. The radiologist must be licensed
and credentialed by the facility providing the scan and
Virtual Radiologic handles all of the administration of
this.

Cheryl Eastbourne won two tickets to the Vikings
along with a gift certificate courtesy of Dan
Boeckermann.
