The Kögel Tipper Trailer: 2-Axle version and material mixes Hanover, 19th September 2012 New to the Kögel construction range: 2-axle tipper trailer Bigger loads through clever side wall variants and modular concept Study: Drop sides made of carbon fibre The Kögel IAA highlight for the construction industry is the 2-axle version of the Kögel tipper trailer for 3-axle tractor units. The latest 2-axle tipper trailer, like its 3-axle big brother, is also available in two versions, with a loading volume of either 24 m³ or 27 m³. It is particularly suited to the hardest of applications on building sites and in gravel pits. Of course, the new 2-axle tipper trailer is also available in various different wall thickness combinations. Thanks to the modular concept, simple, quick and cost-effective replacement of the tipper body components is possible at any time. The floor of the trough is made of heat-treated Hardox-450 steel and the side walls in the standard version are made of high-strength S700 steel. This makes the tipper extremely tough and durable. More payload with new drop side variants From now on, the 2-Axle and 3-Axle tipper trailers are available not only in various wall thicknesses in steel, but walls are now also available in aluminium for the first time from Kögel. This means that Kögel customers can create their own individual tipper trailer, depending on their sector and needs. The combination of a Hardox-450 trough base and aluminium walls is particularly suited to construction materials such as gravel or shingle. The advantage of the steel trough with lightweight 1 walls as compared to the purely aluminium trough is that it can be used continuously for more than ten years, whilst the aluminium trough needs expensive repair work every two to three years. Kögel is therefore focussing on a clever mix of materials. At places subject to a high level of wear and tear, high-quality steel is used, and on walls subject to less abrasion we use lighter aluminium. The slightly higher purchase price are thus amortised quickly as costly floor repairs are eliminated completely. When compared to the standard version, with a five millimetre thick trough base and four millimetre thick side walls and back wall, a full 290 kilogrammes can be saved in the tare weight of the unit by using the aluminium walls (box profile). Side walls made from carbon fibre In addition, Kögel is demonstrating a study on side walls made of carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer at the IAA 2012. Clever weight reduction: The walls can be replaced simply, rapidly and cost-effectively at any time thanks to the screwed/bolted/glued jointing techniques. The new 2-axle tipper trailer and the aluminium walls can be ordered immediately.
