Activity 1
Directions:
1. Hold the paper so the holes are at the top
2. Trace a large circle in the center of the paper.
3. Halfway through the circle (3 and 1/2 inches) draw a straight horizontal line with a
ruler
 On the left side of the line, outside the circle write the word: Equator
 On the right side of the line, outside the circle label this line as 0
4. One inch above the Equator draw another straight line and label this line outside the
circle as 23 1/2N on the right. On the left, outside the circle, label this line: Tropic of
Cancer
5. One inch below the Equator draw another straight line and label this line outside the
circle as 23 1/2S on the right. On the left, outside the circle, label this line: Tropic of
Capricorn
6. 1½ inches above the Tropic of Cancer draw another straight line. Label this line,
outside the circle to the right, as 60N
7. 1½ inches below the Tropic of Capricorn draw another straight line. Label this line,
outside the circle to the right, as 60S
8. Label the North Pole outside the top of the circle and label the North Pole as 90N
9. Label the South Pole outside the bottom of the circle and label the South Pole as 90S
10. In between the Tropic of Cancer and Capricorn write the words: Tropical Climates
11. In between the Tropic of Cancer and 60N write the words: Mid-Latitude Climates
12. In between the Tropic of Capricorn and 60S write the words: Mid-Latitude Climates
13. In between 60N and the North Pole write the words: High-Latitude Climates
14. In between 60S and the South Pole write the words: High-Latitude Climates



In the Tropical Climate area write: Tropical Rainforest and Tropical Savanna
In the Mid-Latitude Climate Areas (in the Northern Hemisphere) write: Marine West
Coast, Humid Continental, Mediterranean and Humid Sub-Tropical
In the High Latitude Climate areas (in the Southern Hemisphere) write: Sub-Arctic,
Tundra and Ice-Cap
Coloring:
Trace all the lines with a thin black marker
 The Tropical Climate area green
 The Mid-Latitude Climate areas light brown
 The High-Latitude Climate areas light blue
