Small hail/snow pellet showers overnight. Ground frozen in places - probably 'ice-bulb' effect.
Snow pellet showers continue through the day, merging into rain and snow during the evening.
Moderate snow shower with 'fog' 0610-0620 and 0725 to after 0900z. Visibility reduced to
400m at times. Showers dying out through morning and turning to rain and snow as they did
so. Mainly dry afternoon, rain and drizzle during the evening.
Rain and drizzle turning to showers overnight. Mostly dry morning with further blustery showers
pm.
Gale 0755-0804z. rain and drizzle during morning, becoming moderate, then heavy, rain early
afternoon. Heavy rain with hail 1316z with wind veer 220° to 250°, precipitation then becoming
light/moderate rain. Moderate rain to moderate sleet (very little snow content). 1650z V. strong
LH parhelion in CB anvil to SSW. rain and hail shower 1728z, gust to 58kt. Gale 1728-1738z.
2052z, frequent lightning to SE. Moderate aurora glow 2350z.
Gale 0407 - F9 0638 - F8 0648 - F9 0723 F10 0725 F9 0732 F8 0735. Gust to 59kt at 0725z.
0735z clearance to NW. Gale ceased 0745z. Wind calm by evening!
Overnight rain and snow turning to blustery wintry showers of rain and hail after 0800z. Some
showers heavy and squally during the late morning with gusts to 55kt. Showers becoming less
frequent during the afternoon and evening.

evening. Gale 2100 - 2110, 2200 - 2210z.
Wintry showers, heavy and squally at times during the morning. Shower activity tending to
transfer southwards during the afternoon.
Occasional wintry showers overnight leaving a sprinkling of snow pellets on the frozen ground
by 0600z. Rain and snow from 1020z, becoming moderate/heavy rain early afternoon before
dying out after 1700z. Wind easing after 1540z, falling to 06kt 1700z. Wind veer, commencing
1655x, 100° to 230° by 1730z. Wind increase to 16kt 1735z with steady increase to gale
2325z.
Gale - 0822, 0907-1130, 1400-1530z. Dry at first, Showers in afternoon merging into a period
of rain and drizzle, back to light showers late evening as wind veers 220°-270° 1830-1900z.
Wind easing 10kt 1840-1925z. Strong aurora glow 2350z.
Gale 0052 - 0108z. Wintry showers dying out during afternoon. Fine, clear evening.

mainly light drizzle and low ST. 1255z slight wind veer and increase 17-23kt mean. Wind veer

Persistent rain from 0700z with a steadily strengthening NE'ly wind. Precipitation, moderate for
much of the afternoon, turning to rain and snow (little snow content) 1530z. Dry evening, skies
clearing to reveal moderate aurora glow by midnight.
Scattered snow showers overnight. Moderate snow shower 0730-0805z leaving some lying
snow at 0800z. Showers dying out during morning, sunny early afternoon with rain and snow
showers late afternoon/early evening. Fine evening, almost cloudless but no aurora observed.
Showers around the horizon but a dry 24 hours on Fair Isle - with plenty of daytime sunshine.
Light or moderate N to NE'ly winds bringing very good visibility.

Showers of snow and/or snow pellets developing overnight with a moderate shower 07100800z leaving 1cm at this hour. This was local to the immediate area of Field, Ward Hill and
the Isle in general having a thin 'dusting' only. Showers then dying out to leave a fine, sunny
morning and afternoon - the lying snow thawing by 1300z. No aurora observed despite a clear
evening with excellent visibility.
Fine night - ground frozen by 0600z, thawing after 0800z - and sunny day. Shower in vicinity
1200z, some CUCON building over Shetland late afternoon.
Dry day. Bright start, CI/AS then thickening with steadily strengthening SE'ly wind.
F6- SSE'ly wind slowly easing and veering SSW'ly. Becoming misty with light rain 1500-1715z
and again during the evening.
Dry night, some light rain during morning clearing to a mild, sunny early afternoon as SSW'ly
wind veers SW. CU building to west with shower late afternoon as wind freshens and veers
WSW'ly. Dry, clear evening.
W'ly wind backing SSW'ly overnight. A dry, bright day with extensive high cloud thickening to
AS/AC late afternoon. 1700Z heavy W'ly swell developed in last 1-2 hours.
Some intermittent light rain 0610-0930z, otherwise dry. Early AS thinning during morning but
AC/AS/CI remaining extensive.
Fine day. Extensive CI during the afternoon hardly curtailing the sunshine at all.
Becoming cloudy overnight with a little very light rain at times. Dry rest of day. 0900z visibility
reported as 20km, but to wet 60km. Visibility improved to 40 km generally during early
afternoon (wind light E'ly) but falling to 4000m late afternoon as wind veered SE to S'ly.
A misty day with variable amounts of CI overnight. Visibility falling from 2000m to 1600m
during the morning as ST became extensive. A clearance to AC/CI mid-afternoon, the visibility
improving to 06km for a while.
A bright, hazy/misty day. Partly cloudy during the morning period, mostly cloudy pm - but still
with sunshine as still plenty of breaks in 7 okta AC perlucidus.
