The housing is a completely assembled structure. It is made of 2 mmthick stainless steel sheet. The chamfered metal sheets are sealed twice with permanently elastic material and connected with the help of stainless steel screws and washers on both sides. In order to increase the surface pressure of the sealing system uniformly KTK stainless steel profile sections are fitted to the flanged housing connections.
The water collecting tank is designed as an integral part of the housing and also made of 2 mm-thick stainless steel. Alternatively, the cooling tower can be erected on a concrete basin designed as a water collecting tank (not included in the scope of delivery). In this case, the entire cooling tower is open at the bottom.
A conical adapter is fitted between the fan above the cooling tower and the housing ensuring a sufficiently large distance between the wet area and the fan impeller. The adapter is fitted with an adequately dimensioned inspection opening.
The lower housing area is fitted with sufficiently large air intake openings. They are covered with plastic grille panels that prevents water from squirting out and reduces light incidence as far as possible. You can easily remove the grille cassettes for maintenance operations in the tank area for instance.

The high-performance filler consists of fused PP film structures. They are distinguished by a very low pressure loss and an excellent heat exchange. The range of application allows a short-term exposure to temperatures of 80 °C and is particularly suitable for typical cooling water.
Where contaminated and fibre polluted cooling water is concerned special fillers consisting of form-closed PP film structures are used. They ensure constant cooling performance even with tolerable deposition. The resulting pressure loss increases only slightly. The filler is sufficiently solid for removal in the event of severe contamination and cleaning for further use.

The water distribution is handled by a stainless steel tube system fitted with hollow-cone spray nozzles of polypropylene that are insensitive to clogging. They ensure the uniform distribution of the water even with a low inlet pressure. Thanks to slip joints, the individual nozzle tubes can easily be removed for maintenance.
The water inlet and drainage sockets are fitted with stainless steel flange connections DIN 2642, PN 10. The overflow and drain sockets have threaded connections. All pipe connections are welded to the cooling tower housing.
The stainless steel screen is fitted into a frame of the same material and mounted upstream of the drainage socket inside the cooling tower. It has a mesh width of approximately 5 mm. The frame prevents vortex effects. The screen frame version suitable for pump operation is so designed as to prevent the intake of air. You can remove the screen without any tools for cleaning operations.
The water inlet socket is fitted with a desalination facility of rustproof material that is accessible from the outside. It allows the adjustment of the desalination water volume even during operation via a ball cock.
The impeller blades of the axial fans are made of extruded aluminium. The solid cushioned connections of the fan blades to the high-grade hub of carbon steel ensure a smooth and low-noise run without any vibration problems. The rising angle of the blades is adjusted in the factory in accordance with the individual load points.
You can adjust the fan blades when the fan does not run.
For special requirements, other blade shapes and types of GRP, for instance, are also available.
The heavy-galvanized fan casing (optionally available in stainless steel) with integrally moulded inflow nozzle ensures an optimum air intake at a low pressure loss.
The axial fans are driven via small-section V-belts by self-cooling IEC squirrel cage motors, protection IP 55 minimum, type of construction
B3. All motors are fitted with PTC sensors to protect the motors against overheating. Motors with direct cooling are not permitted. We use single-speed motors suitable for FC triggering or Dahlander motors for two-speed operation. The motor is mounted in a vertical position on an easily adjustable motor slide base of stainless steel fitted outside the fan casing. Therefore, the motor is well accessible for maintenance operations. The tension of the V-belt can easily be adjusted via a central adjusting screw.

The bird protection grille is part of the fan casing and covers the air outlet opening of the fan.
If the cooling tower is fitted with supply air sound absorbers the bird protection grille is fitted to the air inlet openings and has a mesh width of 25 mm.

All rotary parts are covered with protective grilles of galvanized steel in compliance with accident prevention regulations.
All pulleys are made of wear-resistant cast steel and fixed with easily removable taper lock bushes to facilitate repair.
Each fan is driven by a separate motor. In the event of a motor failure in multi-cell cooling towers, the remaining fans keep on running thanks to their dedicated drive. This concept ensures a higher operational safety of the re-cooling system. And if repair is required, the individual single motors are easier to remove and handle due to their lower size.
Alternatively to V-belt driven fans also axial fans with direct drive via gear motors are available.
The stainless steel casing is matched to the cooling tower structure.
The noise damping screens are designed according to the principle of absorption. They are made of seawater-resistant perforated aluminium sheets combined with laminated mineral wool wrapped in abrasion-resistant, moisture-proof and rot-resistant film.
