of gasoline worth 26 cents per gallon must be mixed to produce 500 gallons
worth 24 cents?
2) A seedman has seeds worth $.70 per pound and seeds worth $.90 per pound.
How many pounds of each must he use to make 300 pounds worth $.75 per
pound?
3) A florist sold roses at $3.50 per dozen and carnations at $2.50 per dozen.
In all he sold 14 dozen, and his total receipts were $43. How many dozen of
each flower did he sell?
4) At a high school basketball game, tickets at the door cost $.50 and pre-sale
tickets cost $.35. There were 20 more tickets sold at pre-sale than at the
door. IF the total receipts were $75, how many of each ticket were sold?
5) A chemist has a solution which is 40% pure acid and another solution which is
15% pure acid. How many ounces of each solution should he use to make 40
ounces of a solution which is 25% per acid?
6) A chemist has one solution which is 3% pure acid and another solution which
is 60% pure acid. How many pounds of each solution must be used to
produce 60 pounds of a solution which is 50% pure acid?
Bonus: How many ounces of pure water must be added to 50 ounces of a 15% saline
solution to make a saline solution that is 10% salt?
