Adams
Ollie Jean Adams, age 70, passed away at 10:39 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2003 at her
residence. She was born Feb. 17, 1932 in Hereford, Texas to Ollie Francis and Claudia
Campbell Otts. She married Charles Ray Adams and he preceded her in death Jan. 4,
2003. Mrs. Adams was a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons, Carlous Adams of Giddings, Texas and Eldon Russell
Adams and Montie Gene Adams both of Emory, Texas; one sister, Evalena Otts of
Emory, Texas; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by one son, Zohn Blaine Adams; one step-father, Benjamin
Newton Stokes; one brother, Wayne Otts; one step-brother, Wyndell T. Stokes; and one
grandson, Chad Ray Adams.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Alexander
Jeanine Cullen Alexander, 50, of Brenham, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003 in Gazebo
Terrace Convalescent Center in Brenham.
Ms. Alexander was born Jan. 2, 1953 in Eku, Nigeria, West Africa, to Dr. Paul S. and Ida
Wright Cullen. She was baptized in 1961 in Second Baptist Church in Houston. She was
a graduate of Bellaire High School, attended Stephen F. Austin University in
Nacogdoches and graduated from the University of Houston.
She was a CPA for Waukeshah Pearce in Houston.
Survivors include her son, David Thomas Alexander Jr. of Sugar Land; parents, Dr. and
Mrs. Paul Cullen of Brenham; brothers and sisters-in-law, John M. and Sharon Cullen of
Houston and Mark P. and Djenadi Cullen of Pleasanton; sister and brother-in-law,
Paulette C. and Leo D. Brown of Baton Rouge, La.; aunts, Alma Cullen Chambers and
husband Edward V. Chambers of Houston, Vera Cullen Grace of Houston, Louise Cullen
of College Station and Alleen Wright Major and husband John N. Major of San Marcos;
nine nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins and friends.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13 in First Baptist Church in
Brenham with the Rev. Stephen Ponder officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea
Cemetery in Brenham.
The family will receive visitors at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 12.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Baptist Church building fund, 303 N.
Market St., Brenham, Texas 77833.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in
Brenham.

Dycus
A celebration of life for Agnes Teresa Dycus, mother of Dolores Kocurek and Kathy
Kugel of Brenham, was held Jan. 13, 2003 at the Immaculate Conception Church in
Sealy, Texas. Celebrants were Father Octavio Muguerza, Father Tim Bucek and Father
David DuBois.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Kellen Kocurek, Christian Kugel, Major Bradley Bird,
Eric Schavrda, Charles Dycus and Jonah Dycus. Honorary pallbearer was Lt. Col. John
D. Bird II.
Music ministers were Deidra Mearns, Meredith Mearns, Amy Bentke, Chris Kocurek,
Marisa Kocurek, Nancy Pattison, Sheila Zengler and Marilyn Svec.
Interment was at the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery in Sealy.
Agnes Teresa Dycus died in her home in Sealy, Texas Jan. 11.
She was born Oct. 11, 1912 to Joseph and Frances Pavlicek Orsak.
On Oct. 11, 1937, she was married to Charley John Dycus. Together they built a home
that was centered on the love of God and family.
She spent many hours praying for her family, friends, church and for world peace. In
each of her children she instilled a strong sense of the importance of God and family.
She is survived by eight children and their spouses: Marie and Joseph Pattison, Dolores
Kocurek, Dale and Carla Dycus, Sue and Billy Schavrda, Eva and John Bird, Patricia
Dycus, Kathy and Fred Kugel and Jacquelyn and Thomas Smaistrla.
Grandchildren are Nancy Buy, Gina Pattison, Sheila Zengler, Corrie Fakes, Deidra
Mearns, Kellen Kocurek, Christopher Kocurek, Amy Bentke, Jennifer Janzcak, Charles
Dycus, Jonah Dycus, Eric Schavrda, Lt. Col. John D. Bird II, Major Bradley Bird, Sara
Robins, Christian Kugel, Gabrielle Kugel, Clayton Smaistrla and Neysa Smaistrla; and 15
great-grandchildren including Meredith Mearns, Alex Mearns, Reagan Bentke and Cara
Benkte of Brenham.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, five sisters and three brothers.

Gersemehl
JoAnn (Mrs. William) Gersemehl, age 76, of St. Peter, Minn. and formerly of Faribault,
Minn., died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003 at the St. Peter Community Health Care Center
following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003 at 3:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of
Our Merciful Saviour in Faribault with the Rev. Henry Doyle officiating. Interment will
be held Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003 at 1 p.m. at the Langola Township Cemetery in Rice,
Minn.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault, Minn. Wednesday
from 1-3:15 p.m.
The family prefers that memorials be directed to the Cathedral of Our Merciful Saviour in
Faribault or the perpetual care fund at the Langola Township Cemetery in Rice, Minn.
JoAnn Leticia Mohr, the daughter of Joseph and Vera (Sparrow) Mohr, was born Sept. 2,
1926 in St. Cloud, Minn. She attended St. Cloud Tech High School and graduated with
the class of 1944. Following high school JoAnn attended Carleton College in Northfield,
Minn. On Dec. 8, 1946, she was united in marriage to William E. Gersemehl at the Grace
Episcopal Church in Paducah, Ky. Mr. Gersemehl preceded her in death May 11, 1994.
JoAnn and Bill lived in St. Cloud from 1948 through 1964, where she owned and
operated a catering service. They moved to Faribault when Bill became executive
director of the Cannon Valley Girl Scout Council. While in Faribault, JoAnn held various
bookkeeping, sales and restaurant related jobs. She was a Sunday school teacher at the
Cathedral of Our Merciful Saviour in Faribault and was an active volunteer at The Guild
House. She delivered Meals On Wheels and volunteered for the Girl Scouts and the
American Cancer Society. Her hobbies included cooking and gardening. JoAnn's
devotion was to her husband and family.
She is survived by five children, Terry (and Nen) Gersemehl of Chisago City, Minn.,
Nancy (and Jim) Davis of Brenham, Jim (and Laurel) Gersemehl and Mary (and Randy)
Johnson, both of Mankato, Minn. and Robert (and Connie) Gersemehl of Faribault; 15
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Zimmer
Margaret J. Zimmer, 85, of Brenham, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003 in Bluebonnet Hills Care
Center. Margaret was born Dec. 22, 1917 to Harvey and Violet (McEvoy) Jackson in
Hoxie, Ark. and graduated from Hoxie High School. On Oct. 23, 1943 she was married to
Frank Zimmer in Little Rock, Ark. and became a homemaker. She had also worked for
Titche's Department Store in Dallas. She was raised a Baptist, but became a Methodist
when she married her husband.
Margaret Zimmer was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, William
Jackson; and sister, Zelda Jackson Poston.
Survivors include her daughter, Betsy Faske and husband C.C. "Butch" of Brenham; and
grandchildren, Bruce Faske and Bonnie Faske.
The family will receive friends prior to service time.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003 at Brenham Memorial
Chapel. The Rev. Bill Derrick will officiate.
Memorials may be given to Nancy Carol Roberts Library.
We wish to thank Nelda Wilke and Art and Lois Grief for their great friendships while
Margaret lived in Brenham.
