Attention all Andover Little League coaches and parents!
FREE coaching clinics available!
We are happy to announce the following training clinics that are open to all coaches and parents
at no cost to you!
Coaches: it is mandatory that all Andover Little League managers and coaches attend at least
one of the following clinics. Regardless of weather you consider yourself a veteran or rookie
coach there are valuable tips, ideas, and insights to be learned at any of these programs.
Although each clinic is geared towards certain age groups the basic skills can apply to all skill
levels so if your schedule doesn’t allow you to attend one of the clinics aimed at the your age
group please go ahead and attend one of the others. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity!

Parents: Maybe you’re interested in coaching baseball sometime in the future, maybe you’re one
of those parents who always end up helping out at practice anyway, or maybe you just want to
learn some tips and skills for working with your own child at home – in any case you too are
welcome and encouraged to attend any of these excellent coaching clinics!
For all clinics please wear comfortable gym clothes and bring your baseball glove!

Location: Beverly High School, Beverly, MA
Time: 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM for coaches of players 9-13 years old
1:00 PM to 4:30 PM for coaches of players 5-8 years old

Coaching Clinic at Doherty Middle School Gymnasium in Andover
Time: 6:00 – 8:00 PM

Target audience: coaches of players 6-9, but open to all
Presenter Bios:
Dave Bettencourt has taught science at Doherty Middle School for more than 25 years. As the
Head Baseball Coach at Andover High School, his teams won Division I State Championships in
1991 and 1992. In 1999 his Winnacunnet NH High School team won the NH Div. I State
Championship. He played both football and baseball at UNH and also played baseball in the
Cape Cod League. Dave is an instructor at Ripp City in Haverhill, MA, has many contacts in
college and professional baseball throughout the country and is a dynamic coach and instructor.
John Tudor was a major league pitcher for 12 years, beginning his career with the Boston Red
Sox. John pitched five seasons for the Red Sox before being traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates prior
to the 1984 season. After being traded to the St. Louis Cardinals, Tudor had a 21-8 record in
1985 and finished second in the Cy Young award voting. His 10 shutouts led the league that year
as he led the Cardinals to the World Series. John later won a World Series ring as a member of
the 1988 LA Dodgers. John has been active in coaching both hockey and baseball in the area and
is currently an assistant baseball coach at Masconomet High School.
Bettencourt and Tudor grew up together in Peabody and played baseball at Peabody High, with
Dave being John's catcher.
Mike Fay’s coaching career has spanned four decades. He has founded leagues, run tournaments
and trained thousands of young players and coaches in his popular baseball camps and clinics.
He has coached all ages of youth players from beginner to High School. His teams Ages 11-16
have competed in tournaments in Cooperstown NY, Jr. Olympics in Jupiter, Florida and at the
Disney Wide World of Sports complex. He is the owner of TTS Sports which contracts to city
and towns including Andover DCS to teach players the fundamentals of baseball as well as other
sports. He played HS & college baseball. His coaching style is upbeat, fast and enthusiastic. He
takes getting to the fun serious! His philosophy as a coach is to make a positive impact on each
of the kids in his care by teaching fundamental skills that well help them love the sport!
