School of Life Sciences 0.4 Teaching Fellow in Psychology (Nine months fixed-term contract) Further Particulars We are looking for a talented and highly motivated individual to join our teaching programme in Psychology. The post will be at 0.4 time and will run for a fixed term of nine months. The main requirement of the post will be to provide cover for a current member of staff taking maternity leave. The successful candidate will be required to deliver lectures on psychology modules at undergraduate level concerning research methods and ageing, to run undergraduate practicals, and to supervise a small number of final year undergraduate projects and dissertations in collaboration with a senior staff member. The postholder will also be responsible for basic administrative duties such as marking. Previous experience of teaching will be required. The postholder will be expected to register as a University Teacher. General The Psychology team teach a psychology degree programme and two MSc courses. Prof Adrian North is Director of the Psychology Programme with research interests in music psychology. Prof Patrick Green runs the psychology research group and has research interests in visual perception. Dr Bjarne Holmes is a social psychologist with an interest in the socio-neuro psychological aspects of attachment. Dr Terry Lansdown is a human factors specialist with an interest in driver behaviour. Dr Mary Stewart has interests in the interaction between brain and behaviour, personality and mood. Dr Kevin Muldoon is a developmental psychologist with research interests in children’s numerical ability. Dr Lauren Potter has an expertise in cognition and action in older people. Dr Nicola McGuigan researches in social cognition. Dr Lindsay Oliver has interests in decision-making and in logical thinking. The School has also appointed several visiting professors, all of whom are prominent practitioners. Within the School, the Sport and Exercise Science group contains staff with interests in human anatomy and physiology, and provides a natural grouping for psychologists in the School to interact with. The School also has strong interests in nutrition as well as in the marine environment, and the School of Management and Languages also has several psychologists with interests in human resource management.
