Many of the folk who came asked us to share the ideas we had planned and put on the website, so here they are: Creator: GOD the Father, the CREATOR 1. Creation Headband Colour the picture of the land and sea and glue it onto one end of a card headband. Then colour the remainder of the headband black (to represent the night time). Choose examples of God’s creation, colour them and cut them out. Stick your choices to the headband in the appropriate places (see sample). Then ask an adult to place the headband around your head to make it the right size to fit and staple the two ends together. Think about all the beautiful things in our world. 2. God's Eye weaving Take two small sticks and make a cross shape Choose your first ball of wool and tie the two sticks together in the middle. Continue by weaving the wool over and under each stick as you turn the cross. To change colour, join the new colour by tying the end to an end of the previous colour and continue weaving over and under. When complete, tie the final end and create a loop at the end of the cross for hanging. Think about how God keeps a loving eye on us. 3. Prayer Flower Cut out the flower along the thick black lines. Write a ‘thank you’ prayer for the Creation on the centre of the flower. Wax the whole of the upper side of the flower, choosing a variety of creation colours. Fold the petals over and crease along the dotted lines. Place in the table top Font of water and wait and watch. Give thanks for all the things you enjoy. Redeemer: JESUS the Son, the REDEEMER 1. Decorated crosses Take a small wooden cross and decorate it with your favourite colours and patterns. Think about the meaning of the cross – a symbol of love and forgiveness. 2. Love Heart memo Take a heart-shaped memo sheet and write about someone you love. Stick your memo on to the large candle on the board. Remember that God loves each and everyone of us. 3. Baptism cards Collect a prepared card and the separate disc. Cut out the disc and colour one side with all the colours of a candle flame e.g. yellow, orange, red and blue centre. Draw a candle on the front of the card (below the cutout flame shape) and colour. Take a paper fastener and fix the disc in the centre of the back piece of card so that it turns easily. As you turn the disc, watch as the candle on the front appears to be alight. Think about the following words: Jesus said: “I am the Light of the World”. Sustainer: The HOLY SPIRIT, the SUSTAINER 1. Flaming Torch Roll a piece of black card to make a tube and sellotape edges. Cut out long strips of flame-coloured crepe paper and stick inside the top of the tube with sellotape. Enjoy waving your torch! Think about the power of light over darkness 2. Bead Wristband Choose some plain wooden beads and 3 or 4 coloured beads and place in a plastic tray. Having looked at the picture of the Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came, colour your wooden beads using similar colours. Cut a piece of elastic to fit your wrist and tie a large knot at one end. Thread the wooden and coloured beads on to it and tie the ends of the elastic together to make your Holy Spirit bead wristband. Think about the Holy Spirit, like a wind – something you can’t see but you can feel and see its effects. 3. Card dove Cut out the card dove and make the small slit and hole (marked x) in its side. Take the small rectangular piece of paper and fold longways in concertina style. Insert the paper through the slit and fan out on either side for wings. Attach a piece of thread through the hole and hang it on our small tree. Think about the dove as the symbol of peace as you hang it on the tree. EXTRAS: Making Bookmarks Select a PROMISE or TRINITY card bookmark. Make a hole at the bottom of the bookmark with the hole punch. Colour the letters and write an acrostic poem or draw pictures to illustrate the word. Choose some ribbon and thread it through the hole at the bottom of the bookmark. Think about what Promises you have made or what the Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) means to you. Face Painting Come and have your face painted with pictures of our beautiful world and the journey of life. We can use our faces to bring smiles to other people's faces and make the world a better place on our journey of life. Helen Woodroffe Children’s Education Officer The Discovery Centre
