Hardiness Zones for
New York State
When choosing plants for the
garden in New York State you must
always consider a particular plant’s
hardiness rating. Central New York
is considered Zones 3-5. Choosing
plants to fit for hardiness zones will
help ensure success. Many plants
either need the extra cold winter
temperatures and some will not be
able to tolerate it as successfully.
