3. Write narratives in which they recount a
well-elaborated event or short sequence of
events, include details to describe actions,
thoughts, and feelings, use temporal words to
signal event order, and provide a sense of
closure.

Conventions are found in the Language section of the CCSS.
Below are the Oregon Standards that don't fit under the
writing section of the CCSS
Convention
 WR.08 Spell correctly three- and four-letter short vowel
words (can, will).
 WR.09 Use spelling/phonics-based knowledge to spell
independently when necessary.
 WR.10 Show spelling consciousness or sensitivity to
conventional spelling.
Grammar
 WR.11 Identify and correctly write singular and plural
nouns (cat/cats).
 WR.12 Identify and correctly write simple possessive
pronouns (my/mine; his/hers).
Punctuation
 WR.13 Correctly use periods (I like my dog.),
exclamation points (Help!), and question marks (Do you
like to play ball?) at the end of sentences.
Capitalization
 WR.14 Capitalize the first word of a sentence, names of
people, and the pronoun I.
Handwriting
 WR.15 Print legibly and space letters, words, and
sentences appropriately.
