AUTOMATIC DETECTION OF TRANSIENT PHENOMENA IN ASTROMETRY Lopez Garcia, Alvaro Astronomical Observatory – Valencia University Edificio de Investigacion, Campus de Burjassot, 46100 Valencia, Spain (alvaro.lopez@uv.es) Several algorithms for the automatic detection and measurement of astronomical transient phenomena are presented. Main subjects included in this paper are: 1. Detection of moving objects in a stellar field with sidereal tracking. 2. Detection of moving objects in a stellar field with differential tracking. 3. Detection of RGB burst and supernovae in deep sky fields. 4. Detection of faint meteor traces in wide-field camera images. In cases 1 and 2 , differential motion of minor planets provides good results in the detection of vary faint and new objects. Two images with small time interval are used with blinking techniques. Similar conditions apply to case 3. When only one field is available, morphological differences allow detecting and discriminating peculiar objects. In case 4, several strategies are considered. Analysis is carried on in a single field or in two similar ones, with different algorithms. Good results are obtained in most cases. Robotic systematic observation of asteroids, comets, RGB objects and meteor traces should benefit of these algorithms.
