1. General provisions
The International Youth Research Forum Eurasia Green (further referred to as the forum)
is run by the Ural State University of Economics (USUE) and the autonomous non-commercial
organization “Bolshoy Eurasian University Complex”.
Participation is open for undergraduates, Master students, and postgraduates from
universities of Eurasian countries as well as business representatives aged under 35 (further
referred to as the participants).
Research projects may be submitted for participation both from individuals and project
groups.
The forum is organized and conducted by:










Ural State University of Economics;
Ministry of natural resources of the Sverdlovsk oblast;
Committee for environmental management and ecology under the auspices of the
Sverdlovsk Regional Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs;
Sverdlovsk branch of the International Academy of Ecology and Life Protection
Sciences;
ENVIRO-CHEMIE GmbH (Germany);
Sredneuralsk Copper Smelter;
Russian Institute of Water Management Research;
Joint Czech-Russian venture “Fortex-Upek”.
The Forum aims to reveal and encourage the participants’ creativity and interest in
research, to support young scientists, to promote scientific knowledge, to involve scientists and
practitioners in working with the young, develop a talent pool for research, administration,
production, and entrepreneurship.
The forum’s mission is to motivate young people of the Eurasian community to utilize
innovations and technical creativity for the protection and rational management of natural
resources.
A participation fee is not levied.

3. Procedure for organizing and conducting the forum
3.1. Stages of the forum
The forum includes three stages.
Stage 1: internal selection. The best research papers are selected within organizations to be
sent to the next stage.
Stage 2: evaluation of the papers selected at the previous stage.
Stage 3: presentation of the research; selecting the forum winners and prize-takers.
The first (internal) stage is conducted by universities, academic institutions and other
organizations within framework of the forum’s theme panels.
At the second stage, the research papers are assessed by the expert board / jury in
accordance with the specified methods and assessment criteria. Winners and prize-takers are
selected at this stage. The expert board / jury includes well-qualified lecturers, leading scientists
and specialists from among the forum’s organizers as well as external experts from universities,
academic institutions and other organizations.
The final is a public presentation of the best research papers by the prize-takers and
winners within framework of the forum’s theme panels.
3.2. The forum preparation
Preparation for the forum includes the following activities:
1) sending letters of information to universities and other organizations in Russia and
abroad no later than 2 months prior to the forum’s final stage;
2) selection of research papers within participating organizations no later than 1 month
prior to the forum’s final stage;
3) review of the received papers, registration of the participants’ compulsory and optional
documents no later than 15 days prior to the third (final) stage;
4) assessment of the research papers by the expert board / jury no later than 5 days prior to
the third (final) stage;
5) sending letters of information to universities and other organizations in Russia and
abroad notifying the participants of their entry to the forum’s final;
6) drawing up a programme and a collection of research papers;
7) publishing the programme;
8) conducting the final;
9) awarding the winners;
10) following up issues arising in the course of the forum within a month after the event.
3.3. Procedure for conducting the forum
The procedure for conducting the forum includes the following activities:







communication with universities, academic institutions, and other organizations
of Eurasian countries, processing of the received papers, registration of the
participants’ documents;
selecting members of the expert board/jury, assessment of the research papers by
the expert board / jury;
drawing up the forum’s program;
publishing the forum’s program;
conducting the forum, organizing the work of theme panels;
winners awarding coordination;
following up issues arising in the course of the forum.
Responsibility for carrying out the above mentioned activities lies with the Ural State
University of Economics.
The university is supposed to be the venue for holding the forum.
3.4. Regularity of the forum
The forum shall be held annually during the spring term, from 1 January to 1 July. The
final dates shall be determined by the order of the Rector of the Ural State University of
Economics.
4. Procedure for submitting research papers
Research papers are to be submitted for participation in the following categories:
Clean Water in Eurasia – scientific, technological and economic aspects of water
resources protection and management (equipment, technologies, tools and methods of purifying
reservoirs, drinking water, and sewage water; zero-discharge water systems);
Waste Turned Into Profit – legal, technological and economic aspects of wastes collection,
recycling and safe disposal;
Rational Environmental Management – well-balanced development of a region or
population cluster; development of natural resources and territories in the best interests of the
present and future generations, ecological safety and economic security.
The forum participants may present research papers in all the three categories. The number
of papers is not limited. In case several papers submitted by one author are selected by the expert
board / jury, the author may be awarded for one work in each category.
The papers are to be presented in print to the Organizing Committee at the following
address: 620144, Ekaterinburg, 8 Marta / Narodnoy Voli St. 62/45, Ural State University of
Economics, Department for research activity, or by e-mail using a special registration form
(http://nirs.usue.ru).
The following documents are to be submitted by the participants:
1) text of a research paper with a front page (Appendix 1);
2) application (Appendix 2) and information about the author’s research advisor as
separate files;
The expert board/jury is set up for the assessment. All the board’s decisions are put on
record and signed by the Chairperson, secretary and the board members (Appendix 3).
5. Requirements to the research papers
The work submitted for participation is to meet the following requirements:
1) topicality of the subject being researched;
2) scientific novelty;
3) innovative character and originality of the proposed solutions;
4) technological and economic feasibility of the proposed solutions;
5) practical relevance and possibilities to test the achieved results and put the research into
practice;
6) appropriate references to the quoted sources, figures, tables, graphs, diagrams, and
bibliography;
7) presence of adequate appendices, illustrations, explanatory notes, etc;
8) logic, style and grammatical correctness.
The format is to meet the following requirements: single line spacing, А4 paper format,
Times New Roman, font size 12, 2 cm margin on each side. The text must not exceed 50 pages.
The structure includes three parts: introduction, three parts (theory, analysis, and
recommendations), conclusion, and a list of references.
Each paper is to be accompanied with a synopsis meeting the following requirements: 1.5
line spacing, А4 paper format, Times New Roman, font size 14, 2 cm margin on each side. The
text must not exceed 2 pages.
6. The forum administration
The forum is administered by the Organizing Committee including:
Chairperson – Rector of the Ural State University of Economics;
Co-chairperson – Vice-Rector for Science of the Ural State University of Economics;
Organizing Committee members.
Chairperson is responsible for:


signing and approving of the forum provisions, the order to conduct the forum,
appointing the expert board/jury members;
provides a general guidance of the event.
Co-chairpersons and Coordinator determine the composition of the expert board/jury and
directly supervise the forum.
The expert board/jury appoints Chairperson and Secretary.
The working group consists of the university’s academic staff responsible for research and
others directly involved in the forum.
Coordinator in cooperation with his/her assistant and working group is responsible for:











maintaining the USUE web-page as far as the students’ research is concerned and
updating the information of the forum;
drawing up provisions of the forum and presenting them to the Rector for approval,
making changes and additions to it;
drawing up draft orders and instructions concerning the forum;
drawing up scenarios of the forum theme panels;
inviting the expert board/jury members;
sending out letters of information to the universities of the RF and countries of
Eurasia;
collecting the research papers and publishing synopses;
organizing the work of the expert board/jury;
providing organization and control over the forum’s flow;
producing diplomas and awarding the winners;
making a report of the event.
7. Procedure for summing up the results
The Organizing Committee ensures that the research papers subject to further assessment
are:
1. Complete, properly structured and submitted within the specified deadlines.
2. Not plagiarized
The expert board/jury selects 5 nominees in each category, organizes the presentation of
the research, and determines the winners and prize-takers. This is recorded in the minutes of the
meeting (Appendix 3).
Preference is given to the papers demonstrating individuality, creativity, and practical
relevance.
The forum nominees taking places 4 to 10 are awarded with letters of recognition.
The nominees taking the first three places are awarded with diplomas. In addition, the
winners get presents.
