Ireland contains the best remaining raised bogs in NW Europe, but quite a number of bogs have been damaged by drainage and peat-cutting. They need restoration and management measures and the Dutch Foundation for the Conservation of Irish Bogs is involved in a number of the restoration projects. The experience and knowledge obtained in bog management and restoration in Ireland is published recently in a book edited by the chairman. The experience and knowledge obtained in bog management and restoration in other countries will be useful to Irish bog projects as well. Therefore, exchange between partners from these countries is of great importance.
