Linda Batson RN, BSN is a Clinical Educator with the Center for
Education and Development at University of Missouri Health Care in
Columbia, Missouri. The native Missourian has worked at MU Health
Care for over 29 years and most recently has been involved in simulation and eLearning for the past 5 years. Her ICU background in the care of burn and trauma patients helped prepare her to educate others. In 2007 she was appointed the American Heart
Association Training Center Coordinator for the training center based at MU Health
Care. She is both Training Center Faculty and Regional Faculty for BLS, ACLS and
PALS. She has coordinated the implementation of the HeartCode Learning System for
ACLS and BLS and is currently implementing PALS HeartCode. She is involved in simulation training for new nursing hires and graduate nurses with SimMan in the CED
Skills Lab as well as assisting with simulation training in the Clinical Simulation Center.
Her role as clinical educator includes coordinating the BLS, ACLS and PALS training for the 475 bed facility’s 1600+ nursing staff, 500+ physicians, and other clinical staff. In her role as an AHA training center coordinator, she is responsible for 400+ AHA instructors from across the state aligned with the training center at MU Health Care. She has presented at the Laerdal SUN Conference in Denver and the AHA Workshop in St.
Louis, sharing her experience with the implementation and ongoing use of Heart Code and other eLearning programs to facilitate the training needs of staff.
