TED06 Monaco press conference sick of the track later in week, and on Sunday I just do a few familiarisation laps to get myself up to speed. C: Pedro joined Red Bull some weeks ago. How has that affected team Red Bull performance? Present: Lee Morris, John-Eric Saxén (Celloman), Ondrej Kuncman (Kimster), Erik Spit (A2k) (randomly invited). Questioning: Celloman & Kimster C: Lee, first victory for team Red Bull racing. Did you feel fast like a winner today, or was it just circumstances which helped you? L: 1st of all I’m happy with the result, it’s a great achievement for the whole team, myself, a2k and pedro who has done a great job as the 3rd driver of red bull racing. C: Tell about race. Any obstacles? L: About the race; it was a pretty normal race, apart from the stop and go's which definitely helped me a little, although I do think I had the pace in me to win. One obstacle from my point of view was Zormeli, as I came to overtake me he drove me into pit wall, so I was pissed off about that, and when I came to lap him he held me up for 3 turns, so that’s a little disappointing C: A2k used Red Bull today. Did you also have some kind of special preparation? L: Haha, I took my normal preparation this week as I have done all season. That was to test at the very beginning of the week, and then have a big break until the race. It’s effective as you don’t become L: He joined as a test driver. He works with us on setup, tyre evaluation and general track suggestions. Since his arrival he has definitely contributed to our pace; in Monaco he found us 0.5s easily. I would like to thank him on his work for red bull racing, his effort is amazing and I thank him for all his help, he definitely helped me to win this race, thank you Pedro. C: You broke the born2win victory row. How do the future races look? Can that be done again, for example at your home venue in Silverstone? L: Well, I don’t think the next 2 races will be any good as I have to start from the back in both. I will do my best, but I am back in the title hunt and as long as we keep the effort up. I think we can do well, the constructors championship is more important to me than the drivers, so we need some solid results. It’s a tough few weeks ahead, good luck to everyone and cya in silverstone K: Congrats, another podium, 3rd race in row where you beat Kimster. This time you were also little faster. What has changed in your driving style or practice? Any new tricks? C: Well, I disabled FF for Monaco. Seems to cause less irritation for me. Usually I have some mental problems, some brain signal goes wrong or something, but after some tweaks and experience I got my mental level up. It allows doing faster laps than in practise now. Style is basically the same, but I try to turn in later and more aggressive like everyone else does. Practise is still the usual +-600 laps per track… work more on websites and leading the team instead of driving. We have also heard about some mafia things in B2W, is it true? K: After a few laps you took leading from 4th place in quali. What was your aim before start and after you took leading? You have done one mistake which cost you win probably and same happened in EU, stupid mistakes or some problems? C: Website coding is just something fun to do in free time, as well as driving. I think I have done both enough the last few weeks. In general born2win doesn’t need any speed tips as for now, what I expect from drivers is just to get better self confidence, experience and most of all stay loyal towards team. Mafia, why not… The mafia organization can be good for loyality towards team; we just need to find a hitman:) C: Well, as it seems I can’t yet keep a 100% concentration during whole race, but Monaco as a track wasn’t easy for anyone to handle I think. Aim was victory, as I knew Monaco might cause some surprises for aggressive drivers. I had strategy to do first 34 laps with hards and last 24 with softs. Worked ok, but the one mistake I did cost me victory today. I tried to risk a lot in end in order to not let the shameless Brit win once again, but in end it caused more accidents, so that was it. But at least I tried. K: B2W has lost first race this year, Kimster was struggling again a little and DA has left probably. What do you expect of GB? Can Dodo be good replace for DA? C: Well, the loss of DA came as a very surprise for me. I might try to send him some emergency help so he gets his wheel working, as the circumstances he lives in doesn’t seem to support a new wheel purchase. GB can still be a very good track, and the wide circuit may allow one fair race(!), which can be a good thing for b2w. Dodo has showed his faster than me, but still lacks some fundamental experience. In a few races I'm sure he can perform on DA level in speed, but I don’t know how long it takes to get enough experience (I’m approaching my 20th ted race, and still improving…) K: 14pts for Williams, 8 pts for Sauber and Machi from RLH 3rd today, quite good for you as manager of B2W. But don’t you feel you K: So you seem to be happy with results today. Any things to say in the end? C: I made a 10€ bet (if the average cut per each driver is less than 10, http://koti.mbnet.fi/born2win), but as I said bets are not good to make, as they can cause some weird things (looking at FSRF1CRV.exe Monaco, my driving certainly didn’t help admins to get their 10 euro). In end I wanna thank every backmarker for nice driving. They only forgot to give Lee some push (blow)jobs, but that’s understandable; his too much for that. C: Kimster, 7/26 tedders thought you as winner in Monaco. What were reasons for not winning? (this kind of arrogant question can only be made to kimster, as we expect him to…) K: I got pole position which was first step to win. I expected if I can stay on 1st position after start I will win, but made a very stupid mistake. Couldn’t wait anymore at start and just went earlier and because of me a2k made same. I was nearly last after stop and go. Later I didn’t have any problems; only Pedro who was lagging and + one mistake. Lost another win and this time because of my own mistake. But 3rd place isn’t bad at all. C: How was performance on clean track today? Did you find optimal speed? C: About championship fight: if DA is out, who is your main challenge? How does team championship look? Sauber? Red Bull? K: If I hadn’t got these problems I could have been much better. I lost some concentration and traffic slowed me down. In the end, although I tried to push, I just couldn’t keep pace of leaders. But speed isn’t most important in Monaco - DC had 19th fastest lap time and finished 3rd, so consistency is what’s counted here. Generally I can say I’m not happy with my pace. I’m looking forward to normal circuit again where I will be able to show more guts (sure _C). K: Of course Williams. I told it at start of season and must only repeat it. Nobody else can beat us. And my main challenge is me myself. If I fix my qualifications I don’t think Florian can compete with me. C: Did u have some problems before start? Forgot your Red Bull? K: I don’t think. I knew Red Bulls will have a good start and I wanted to start very well to stay on P1. But surprisingly red lights went off too late. I just wanted 1 minute to be sure they wont give race before I come back, actually it was like 1 pit stop, no more. C: Yeah, I also almost made an early Sato start. Championships fight goes tight again. Are you relieved of these problems of DA? K: Problems of Deniz probably gave me title. That’s not way how I wanted to win it but what can I do. C: By the way, a great pole for you, was a good lap. However, Williams drivers have been pretty even in last races. Still, Celloman is usually 3-7 tenths behind in quali times, but in race it isn’t like that. Weird situation? C: Kimster, anything to add? K: I would like to thank Deniz who made great setup for team and made a lot of job for us this season. It’s a shame that problems stopped him once again. Pole and 3rd place in race isn’t bad and I believe at Silverstone it will be much better. C: Btw, did your favourite political party victory affect your driving? K: It’s not my favourite, but the leader is little like Hitler… C: Okay. A2k, how did the Red Bull drinking affect your driving. Is it a full proof future method for team Red Bull? A: Hehe, it definitely worked. Hardly made mistakes so next time there will be more RB A: DA, why did you quit with such a lame excuse? DA: EASY TO SAY, HARD TO BUY. K: Well, it was definitely my best qualification lap since Suzuka in winter. I’m pretty happy for that. Celloman isn’t that fast in 1 hotlap, but as we see it’s not problem because in last races he has had a very similar speed to me. We are very consistent and if it will continue like this nothing can stop us from winning the constructors. C: Your team got closer to Renault again. What’s the main aim of the team? Do you think you can pass Renault/Sauber and battle with Williams for the constructors? A: Yeah, lee is motivated again (and we know the reasons _C), so I think we will be the runner up in the upcoming races. C: Tell about race. Any obstacles? Problems with Lee? A: My race was fun to drive, not that good result but I play this game for fun. In the start I went to early together with kimster. Kinda stupid. So I went for my stop and go after lap 2. Was on last position again. I tried a slightly shorter first stint to get in front of kimster, but couldn’t get pass him, and because of the stop and go we had no advantage on lee and cello. From that point I was behind kimster, but he didn’t make any mistakes. Until lap 48 it went well, but my right rear brake failed, so crashed into the wall. Had to pit, and drive safely till the end. And I didn’t see lee the whole race. C: You got fastest lap of the race. Next we go to GB, where you were victorious last time, with the help of an extra push you accidentally made to kimster. Probably a good chance to win again? A: I have no idea, I like the track but I have exams coming up again. I need tracktime, maybe not that talented. C: Thank you gentlemen. Conference became quite a bit short today, but I must hurry to my workplace.
