Selected Accomplishments Lead the negotiations with large landowner companies in the acquisition of leases, including : - 1,200 ac. w/ Lacassane Co., Calcasieu Ph., La. - 1,200 ac. w/ Miami Corp., Cameron Ph., La. Lead the successful response to numerous landowner demands threatening lease cancellation unless additional drilling commenced or production restored. Assumed an instrumental role in satisfying a $220k royalty demand from a landowner in Deep Lake Field which led to state approval of Sec. 102 gas pricing designation and avoidance of $500k reimbursement to the gas purchaser. Under strict time constraints and pressure, successfully negotiated the renewal of a surface lease for the Mobil operated Lowry gas processing plant which was instrumental in the subsequent sale of three (3) plants to Oxy ($26M). Land Associate – New Orleans, La. & Houston, Tx. 4/1988 – 6/2011 Landman responsible for all production related land matters in selected core highly-visible operated fields in the GOM (HI A-573, Green Canyon 18 and Mississippi Canyon 211 “MICA”), onshore La. & Kansas (Hugoton Field). Selected Accomplishments Handled the transmittal and responses to inquiries from partners associated with well work and facility related cost proposals totaling in excess of $250M without delays in the commencement of the approved operations. Was among the first landmen in the industry to handle official partner communications through the use of the internet, leading to reduced cycle time in time sensitive and critical communications. DonResume Successfully negotiated the settlement of a dispute with partner companies involving a controversial drilling operation, resulting in avoidance by Mobil of $800k in potential exposure. Negotiated Cameron Gas Plant Handling Agreement resulting in a $1.9M release of withheld revenue. 8/1/2013 RESUME – Don Walker DonResume Assumed a major role in an interdisciplinary group in the planning and ultimate drilling of two (2) near horizontal of wells in West Cameron Field which resulted in added reserves ~14 BCF. Lead the identification and capture of two (2) joint ventures in HI A-379 field with Oxy Energy, and Garden Banks 134 with Kerr-McGee Corporation, with significance including shortened cycle times for all tasks associated with identification through evaluation and capture/negotiation among intense competition and reserve finds approximating 15 BCF. Lead the negotiations in the sale of Mobil’s interest in HI A-472 to Zilkha Energy which resulted in savings of future platform abandonment costs of over $3M. Leveraged a soil bearing report request from Texaco to gain its approval to use a platform wellbore slot in West Cameron 533 Field, resulting in savings to Mobil from potential exposure of $450k and enabled the drilling of Mobil’s first horizontal operated well in the Gulf of Mexico which produced at rates of 10-15 MCFD Lead the negotiation of an innovative trade of Mobil’s ownership in platform and facilities in Vermilion 326 to Hall-Houston Oil Company in return for $200k and savings of $125M in abandonment costs. Lead the negotiation with partners in the abandonment of West Cameron 617 “A” Platform which served as an area-wide operations base, and the donation of the Platform to the State of Louisiana under its “Rigs to Reef” Program which resulted in abandonment cost savings of $1.25M. Formulated a strategy and finalized a settlement covering major audit issues covering unit operations in the HI A-573 Field. Gross amount of all issues impacted approximated $40M. Coordinated the GOM Shelf producing business unit’s assimilation of lease, contract and seismic data for review by Vastar in its due diligence work associated with an exchange agreement. Coordinated the response to all title defects resulting from Vastar’s due diligence findings. Represented the business unit in the transfer of operatorship of the HI A-573 Field to Unocal as successor operator. Supervised a field contract landman who handled all field related transactions in Hugoton Field, Kansas (acquisition of easements, settlement of damage claims, etc.) Due to safety concerns, established and lead the process to convert the source (gas) of domestic energy granted under many leases in Hugoton Field to propane. Specifically, among other responsibilities, I worked to identify and interpret contract provisions which could impact the transfers/assignments (Consent to Assign, PRP, etc.) to effect the consolidations, and the individual state processes required to gain approval of state lease assignments.
