The aim of the classes is to:
- acquire the knowledge about the pathophysiology of organs and systems in the life threatening conditions
- get the ability of the quick recognition of life or health threatening conditions
- acquire the knowledge about basic procedures of bringing back, stabilizing and monitoring vital functions
- get to know the legal status for emergency medicine in Poland

Rules and regulations
THE COURSEWORK OF FIRST AID WITH ELEMENTS OF NURSING INCLUDES 30 HOURS OF CLASSES.
Form and terms of credit for the course: credit with a grade
The condition for completion: participation in seminars and classes according to the plan passing the theoretical and practical exam
1. Students are obliged to prepare the part of material which will be the subject of the next topic.
2. Attendance on classes is obligatory. In the case of the illness a sick leave has to be delivered. Other absences due to important reason must be documented.
3. One unjustified and undocumented absence makes it impossible to take the final test and pass the course.
4. In the case of absence the student, he or she is obliged to pass the the material from the classes he/she was absent in 4 weeks time. The specific date should be set with the assistant who conduct the classes.
5. Any accidents, injuries and other emergencies must be immediately reported to the practice leader.
6. Using mobile phones during classes is prohibited.
Final Test
1. The Final Test (20 questions) consists single - choice questions (only one answer correct).
2. Students who failed the Final Test are obliged to retake the test in 4 weeks time from the first term.
3. An excuse for absence should be submitted to the examiner within three days after the final test
4. The final exam will be assessed according to given marks:
(Fail) – less than 13 points ( less than 65 %)
(3) – 13-14 points
(3,5) – 15 points
(4) – 16-17 points
(4,5) – 18 points
(5)– 19-20 points
Practical part
1. The practical part of the exam checks the skill of BLS procedures and other practical skills which were presented in the class.
Final grade:
1. The final grade is the arithmetic mean of the grade from the final test and from practical part.
2. Students have to get positive mark from the test and the practical part. One failed element makes it impossible to get positive mark from the course. The failed part has to be retaken in 4 weeks time from the first term.
