Thank you for your help! “Holy, Holy, Holy” As we study the churches of the first century, one thing will stand out. None of them were perfect. The Corinthian church was filled with false teaching, false behaviors and false brothers. The Galatian churches were thinking of giving up on grace and going back to the Law of Moses and the Philippian church had sisters in it that were not getting along. Sometimes we think the Jerusalem church escaped all these problems. But, the first church even faced one of the most common problems in churches today. They had hypocrites in the church. This morning we will see that God can always use a church that stands for holiness and purity. As we look into the story of Ananias and Saphira, we will once again see the dangers of pride and greed. But, we will see how God blesses churches that take a stand and speak up for His righteousness. God can work through a church that is built on purity. I know you are keeping your promise to pray for this church. We are in transition and learning how to conduct our business through the men’s meetings. We are uncertain about how to go about this process and are learning on the fly. The best thing you can do is pray, pray and pray. As we saw last week it was the faithful 120 who kept meeting and kept praying and in that context God was able to fill the empty leadership role among the apostles. So, stay faithful in your attendance, your giving and especially in your prayers. We may not be able to do all we would like, but we can all pray that God will work in us.
