Vet Med Center Technician Career Ladder 5 Career ladder benchmarks Technician I Graduation from an accredited American Veterinary Medical Association program for veterinary technology and/or met requirements for certification in the State of Florida; or a high school degree and two years of veterinary work experience. Technician II Graduation from an accredited American Veterinary Medical Association program for veterinary technology and/or met requirements for certification in the State of Florida; or a high school degree and four years of veterinary work experience. Minimum of two years practical experience in an academic hospital environment or equivalent education and practical experience in private practice. Documented completion of 20 hours continuing education within the last two years. Cross training may substitute for continuing education. Successful Completion of The Basic Skills Mastery List. Technician III Graduation from an accredited American Veterinary Medical Association program for veterinary technology and/or met requirements for certification in the State of Florida; or a high school degree and four years of veterinary work experience. Minimum of four years practical experience in an academic hospital environment or equivalent of eight years education and practical experience in private practice. Documented completion of 40 hours continuing education within the last two years. Cross training may substitute for continuing education. Documented completion of 8 hours of continuing education in human resources or supervising skills within last two years. Successful Completion of Advanced Skills Mastery List. Publication and/or invited speaking engagements, and/or presentations in veterinary technical topics. Technician IV Graduation from an accredited American Veterinary Medical Association program for veterinary technology and/or met requirements for certification in the State of Florida; Minimum of five years practical experience in an academic hospital environment or equivalent of ten years education and practical experience in private practice. Documented completion of 60 hours continuing education within the last three years. Cross training may substitute for continuing education. Documented completion of 16 hours of continuing education in human resources or supervising skills within last two years Demonstrated ability to explain, instruct and train students and staff in various operations without supervision. Demonstrated skills in time sheets and medical record management and scheduling. Successful Completion of Advanced Skills Mastery List. They review and score each completed packet using the scoring process outlined below. Based upon these scores, the committee makes a recommendation for career ladder promotions to the Hospital Board.
