The to-go box and salad dressing cup are made from renewable sugar cane pulp. Dressing lids, silverware, cups, cup lids and straws are made from renewable corn starch. Napkins are made from 100% chlorine free post-consumer content and printed with soy based ink. The paper wrapped around the sandwiches is also made from soy. Squatters to-go bag is 100% biodegradable, compostable and recyclable; making all of their to-go items “Eco Friendly” and 100% earth safe. “We want to extend our eco-practices beyond our front door, purchasing to-go packaging that is compostable and biodegradable,” said Joe Lambert, operating partner of Squatters “we’re in the restaurant business, not the garbage business. Even our beer to-go is in recyclable glass containers (called growlers) that can be used again and again.” Environment In January 2004 Squatters received Salt Lake City’s e2 Business status and was awarded Environmental Company of the Year by the Recycling Coalition of Utah. Squatters supports Blue Sky Energy through the purchase of energy blocks. Other environmental actions: high temperature dishwashers, waterless urinals, water-wise toilets, water-wise gardening, improved water habits, energy-efficient lighting and customer bike racks. Squatters uses pre and post consumer materials whenever possible, including environmentally responsible “To Go” containers and paper bags, sending less waste to landfills.
