SERMON OUTLINE
WORSHIP:
You were Planned for God’s Pleasure
“You (God) created all things, and by Your will they were created and have their
being.”
Revelation 4:11b
“Love the Lord your God…
This is the first and greatest commandment.”
Matthew 22: 37-38
MY 1ST PURPOSE IN LIFE IS TO ______________.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living
sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.”
Romans 12:1
1. WORSHIP IS _________________ TO GOD’S LOVE.
2. WORSHIP IS _________________________ TO GOD.

1. WORSHIP IS ____________________ ON GOD.
“The mind set on the flesh is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it
do so.” Romans 8:7
“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind...” Romans 12:2a
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off
everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with
perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and
perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its
shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2
2. WORSHIP IS ____________________ TO GOD.
“We love because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19
“Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous
God.” Exodus 34:14b
“For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt
offerings.” Hosea 6:6
3. WORSHIP IS ____________________ FOR GOD.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.”
Colossians 3:23
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living
sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.”
Romans 12:1a
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
1 Corinthians 10:31
“Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather
offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer
the parts of your body to Him as instruments of righteousness.” Romans 6:13
“So we make it our goal to please Him…” 2 Corinthians 5:9
CONCLUSION
"Even now,” declares the LORD, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting and
weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD
your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love,
and He relents from sending calamity. Joel 2:12-13

40 DAYS OF PURPOSE CAMPAIGN
How was your week? I'm sure each of us had our own different
experiences and thoughts as we had our devotional times or participated in our
connect group discussions and reflected on the reason for our existence. Do
you still remember last week's memory verse? If you do, write it down in the
blank space here:

This week we cover the first of the 5 purposes: worship. This term has so
many meanings attached to it nowadays that most people would have
differently nuanced definitions of the word ‘worship’. One of the more common
nuances we tend to associate with worship is that of music. I remember a
friend asking me one day,
–“So what are you Christians going to do in heaven?”
–“Worship God.”
–“Har? Singing songs all day long?”
But the term ‘worship’ in this week's purpose means more than that – it refers
to pleasing God. Think about these as you read this week's readings: how is my
life bringing / not bringing pleasure to God? What would I be doing if bringing
pleasure to God is a serious priority in my life?
From this week onwards, we would like to encourage you to share with
us any testimony of how God has worked in your life through this campaign.
The testimonies we receive may be featured in future bulletins, appear in the
commemorative video, or be presented at the Celebration Sunday (with your
consent).

PRAYER FOCUS
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up,
left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed.”
Mark 1:35 (NIV)
Pray that the men, women, and children of our church will more completely
understand that they were created for God's pleasure. Specifically ask that they
will have a joyful heart of worship as they learn to relate to our Heavenly
Father as His children, and experience His love and power in a greater way.
THINGS TO DO
Continue to press on in the actions that you have committed yourself to.
Send your testimonies to 40dop@charismc.org.sg
