It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.” Romans 8:7 “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind...” Romans 12:2a “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2 2. Joel 2:12-13 2 40 DAYS OF PURPOSE CAMPAIGN How was your week? I'm sure each of us had our own different experiences and thoughts as we had our devotional times or participated in our connect group discussions and reflected on the reason for our existence. Do you still remember last week's memory verse? If you do, write it down in the blank space here: __________________________________ __________________________________ ________________________________ This week we cover the first of the 5 purposes: worship. This term has so many meanings attached to it nowadays that most people would have differently nuanced definitions of the word ‘worship’. One of the more common nuances we tend to associate with worship is that of music. I remember a friend asking me one day, –“So what are you Christians going to do in heaven?” –“Worship God.” –“Har? Singing songs all day long?” But the term ‘worship’ in this week's purpose means more than that – it refers to pleasing God. Think about these as you read this week's readings: how is my life bringing / not bringing pleasure to God? What would I be doing if bringing pleasure to God is a serious priority in my life? From this week onwards, we would like to encourage you to share with us any testimony of how God has worked in your life through this campaign. The testimonies we receive may be featured in future bulletins, appear in the commemorative video, or be presented at the Celebration Sunday (with your consent). 3 PRAYER FOCUS “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed.” Mark 1:35 (NIV) Pray that the men, women, and children of our church will more completely understand that they were created for God's pleasure. Specifically ask that they will have a joyful heart of worship as they learn to relate to our Heavenly Father as His children, and experience His love and power in a greater way. THINGS TO DO Continue to press on in the actions that you have committed yourself to. Send your testimonies to 40dop@charismc.org.sg UPCOMING EVENTS 1.
