NATURAL STONE CARE
Your natural stone surface is millions of years old and it can be
damaged by using an improper cleaning product that is not suitable for use
on stone surfaces. Natural stone is formed of delicate minerals that can react
to improper cleaning products such as: vinegar, many over-the-counter
cleaning products, window cleaners, dishwashing detergents, generic neutral
cleaners, degreasers, acidic-based cleaners and much more; therefore, your
stone surface must be cleaned and maintained with products manufactured
for stone surfaces.
Stone cleaners are designed to clean hard porous surface by penetrating deep
into the pores of the stone and lift out dirt and soils. Stone cleaners clean the
surface, pores and small fissures, thus providing a safe and beautiful stone
surface.
There are a number of good products on the market, below are a few
that customers have used and were happy with the results.
Weiman’s new Granite Wipes are just another example of how we
are always looking to make your life a little easier. Great for
everyday cleaning, Granite Wipes are a quick and easy way to
remove grease and grime from sealed granite, marble, quartz and
most stone surfaces.
In addition to the uses above, Granite Wipes are also excellent for
cleaning other surfaces: Corian®, ceramic, chrome, fiberglass, auto
interiors, laminated plastics, patio furniture and much more.
This product is available at HEB, Target, and Walmart. We recently
have been using these in our showroom, with good results.
Marbamist by SCI is a wonderful ready to use stone cleaner
that will safely clean and condition Granite Countertops, Marble
Vanities, Limestone, Tile, Slate, and all other types of natural
stone countertops. It is a daily use cleaner. Marbamist uses a
streak-free formula that is ideal for cleaning and degreasing
kitchen countertops and tables. It is safe in a food-handling
environment and there is no rinsing required. Simply spray and
wipe. Typically available at Home Depot or Lowes.
International Stone Polish® by SCI (Use monthly)
STONE SPRAY-N-SEAL® is a water-based penetrating
sealer that protects natural stone surfaces from staining. It is
wonderful for stone countertops, floors, walls, vanities and
even grout. This below surface sealer is also ideal for sealing
all types of masonry, stucco, concrete and sanded grout. It has
a special blend of polymers that bond to the stone and creates a
water..Typically available at Home Depot or Lowes, or on-line
at www.stonecare.com.
Granite Gold Daily Cleaner - 24 oz.
This unique, streak-free formula safely deep-cleans granite and
natural stone, and manufactured stone such as Silestone. Our Daily
Cleaner leaves a fresh citrus scent, and regular use enhances and
beautifies all stone surfaces. Granite Gold is safe for all food
preparation surfaces. It is bio-degradable, easy on your hands and
helps maintain the beauty and shine of your stone surfaces. Has
been reported to work well on black granite countertops. Typically
available at Costco, Bed Bath & Beyond.
Granite Gold Polish quickly and easily adds shine and luster to
granite and natural stone. They recommend you use this polish
weekly, and in conjunction with the Granite Gold daily cleaner,
instead of everyday household products/polishes, which can
damage natural stone. Enhances shine and luster on dull
countertops, reinforces the sealer, helps natural stone resist hard
water marks and fingerprints. The product uses a streak-free
formula which leaves no residue, and is biodegradable and safe for
food preparation surfaces. Typically available at Costco, Bed Bath
& Beyond.
