Accreditation is conferred as part of the Pharmacist Vaccination Code given effect by Regulation 39AA of the Poisons Regulations 1965. 2. Submissions for accreditation will be assessed by an expert panel (the Panel) of senior Department of Health clinicians, who will make a recommendation to the Chief Executive Officer of Health. 3. All submissions to the Panel must be made in writing. 4. Complete submissions will be considered and a decision made in 28 days. 5. Incomplete submissions will not be considered. The Panel may request further information relating to a submission at any time. Submissions will not be considered further until any requested information is provided in full. 6. A program will not be accredited if, in the opinion of the Panel, the program or submission does not meet any standard of assessment. 7. A program may be amended and resubmitted for assessment at any time. 8. Accredited courses will be listed on the Department of Health website. 9. Submissions must address the following elements: name and address of organisation organisational profile and educational credentials relevant staff and expertise details of program quality, including comparison against the APC Standards for the accreditation of programs to support the pharmacy administration of vaccines: o participant eligibility o learning outcomes o development o educational methods o delivery o promotion o evaluation. details of program content, including comparison against the National Competency Standards Framework for Pharmacists in Australia 2010 details of principal contact officer. 10. Course content must specifically cover the following as per the National Health and Medical Research Council Immunisation Guidelines: management of clinical records and consent patient assessment and selection safe injection technique patient monitoring and adverse events anaphylaxis management infection control aspects vaccine handling. 11. Courses must provide appropriate levels of practical experience of vaccine administration under suitable practitioner supervision and a competency based assessment method for participants.
