Internship/fellowship offered: We offer child life volunteer hours, fieldwork hours in child life, art therapy, and music therapy, and also
offer full internships in all of these disciplines every semester.
Areas of Expertise/special programs: We have staffed trained in Ericksonian hypnosis and guided imagery through NLP training
institute, Yoga, and infant massage within our department. One of our staff has taked classes at the Play Therapy of New Jersey, as well.
Although we do not currenly use these techiniques directly as programs, we do incorporate facets of them into the scope of practice in an
appropriate and safe way. In addition to these programs, two of our staff members have returned to school. One seeking certification in
ABA training. The other is working toward a masters in counseling. We hope to be able to incorporate these practices, as well. Currently
some of the special programs that are offered at our institution from our department include school tours, a community outreach teddy
bear clinic event, pet therapy, portable playhouse beading at bedside, Dances with Wood and HOP from the Hole In Wall Camp.
Additionally, each year our staff memebers take turns and spend a week at each Hole in the Wall and Camp Happy Times as counselors. We
also work closely with the Big Apple Circus Clown Care Unit.
