Halloween Disco - 6:30-9pm = Mossburn Community Centre Hall PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Dear Parents and Caregivers Fantastic news… Last week on Thursday, Hamish and Chantal became proud parents. Their wee Zara looks absolutely amazing in the photo they sent. The details: Zara Marie, born at 5:38pm on Thursday in Winton, 7 pound 14, and Chantal is well. When the time is right, they’ll pop into school at some stage, perhaps next term? On behalf of everyone from school - Congratulations and well done Mrs McClean! I hope you all had a good weekend… Did you do something special for Father’s Day yesterday? On Saturday, it was a pleasure attending the NSC ski trip. It was nice to see how well-mannered the children were and how much fun they all had. The snow was probably the best I’ve ever experienced. It’s not quite spring weather yet… hang in there! Have a lovely week… only three weeks left of Term Three! Principal’s Award: Congratulations Sam for working hard in class. Congratulations Elyssa for amazing results in class and being very polite. Great effort Sam and Elyssa! Vests: Could all children please wear their vests to school. We’ll try our best to ensure they wear them home. Room 3/Relieving Teachers: Miss Blatch is entitled to one day out of the classroom per week, due to her being a Beginning Teacher (often referred to as a ‘BT’). Mrs Kristine Russell has been employed to be her regular release teacher. Basically that means Mrs Russell will be teaching once a week in Room 3. Kristine is a very experienced teacher and has worked at Mossburn School before. She works in other schools and it is exciting to have her onboard. We are also very fortunate having Mrs Leanne Stalker and Mrs Janette Collins as our regular relievers who continue to do an excellent job working in with the staff. Health: Just a follow up to the text I sent out last week… We’ve had two cases of chicken pox and one case of whooping cough in Room 3. We also have one case of strep throat in Room 2. Thank you to those respective families for managing this well. We didn't want to alarm you - more about keeping you all in the loop! We appreciate your support by keeping your child at home when they’re unwell as I know sometimes it can be difficult. Unfortunately schools are a breeding ground for bugs! The good news is, everyone is at school today in Room Three and only four children are away from the other two classes. Spring Fling Lumsden versus Mossburn: There is a meeting tomorrow night at 7:30pm, in Room 1, at Mossburn School. If anyone is keen to help out - you’re welcome to attend. Matthew (Room 3) and Hayden (Room 2) Cookson. The boy's parents, Lisa and Andrew have been working on Nick and Vanessa Hamiltons’ Farm, along Mossburn-Five Rivers, for a number of years now. The boys have come from Lumsden School. The boys spent an afternoon with us on Friday and we were all impressed with their lovely manners and the way they got on with others so easily. Well done Matthew and Hayden! Congratulations to Matthew who received the diligence award for excellent manners during assembly. No Board Meeting tonight: Unfortunately, it’s a busy time of the year and the meeting has been rescheduled. Grace Astle: Good luck tonight… Go hard and I’m positive you’ll deliver your speech with confidence. What a great experience! On Thursday the 27th, Harley from World Vision came to Mossburn School to thank us for doing the 40 Hour Famine. The nine participants from our school, raised $426.20 for the children World Vision helps. Harley told us that we raised enough money to make 43 gardens or help 215 children. He presented everyone who participated with a special certificate. This is a photo of Harley presenting Grace Duthie with her special certificate and a badge for raising the most money at our school. Kind Regards Andrew Pardoe-Burnett Other School Notices Needed for School Old Couch in Room 4 – The old couch in Room 4 is falling to pieces.
