ISLA BANK SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 18 June 2015 Term 2, Week 9 NOTICES FROM THE PRINCIPAL ICE SKATING SWIMMING TRIP A permission slip was enclosed with last week’s newsletter, and for those that haven’t returned their forms another one has been enclosed with your newsletter this week. Please sign and return to the school ASAP. The date for this trip is 26th of June. CROSS COUNTRY The Western Cross Country was held at Holt Park in Otautau. Well done to Cameron, Logan and William Wisely who qualified and ran in this event. Cameron will now go through to the Southland Cross Country at Waimumu this Friday. Good luck Cameron. FIRST AID COURSE This was run last Friday by the Red Cross, for the senior class. Many valuable skills were learnt. CENTRAL SOUTHLAND COLLEGE PRODUCTION We will be attending the Central Southland college’s production - “Back to the 80’s”, on Monday the 29th of June @10.30am. The cost of this trip will be $2 and needs to be paid to the school. Please remember to return the permission slips ASAP. YOUNG EINSTEIN These teams should be practicing their general knowledge at home for this event which is being held at Winton Primary School. We have two teams entered. FUN RUN FUNDRAISER All booklets should now be in. Prizes your child has chosen will be ordered on the 17th of June and we are hoping these will be here by the end of the term. Many thanks to those who participated. We appreciate the support for our school. STATIONERY All children are expected to have two pencils at school. Could all parents ensure their child has two pencils at school-named. There are a few children that have had a pencil placed onto their school account recently. KIND REGARDS CLARE ROBINSON Fundraiser Farm location maps. We are selling these books in conjunction with the Otautau Lions. These books are $35 each and our school receives 29% profit from the sale of the books we sell. Order forms were sent out with the newsletter. Please ring if you need more forms. Bronwyn taught us what actions we would need to take if we found someone lying unconscious on the ground, how to put the casualty in the recovery position, how to contact the emergency services and what information we would need to give. We learned how to bandage a wound and put a sling on a broken arm and a bleeding arm. We also learnt what to do when we have a nose bleed, burns and get poisoned. TRANSITION CLASSES We also run 4 year old transition classes each Wednesday morning in Room 3. So if you have, or know a 4 year old who will be coming to our school soon, please contact the school to advise us of this. PTA NEWS NEXT MEETING: 25th June 7.30 at the school. These meetings are generally held on the third Thursday of each month. We require 2 parents to assist us with vehicles. Schedule as follows: Leave school @ 9am SHARP 10.30am-12noon – swimming 12-12.30pm – Lunch 12.30-2pm – Ice skating 2.15pm – Leaving Gore 3.15pm - Arrive back at Isla Bank Buses will resume normal runs. Please allow for delay. Heat ups-Hot food Just a reminder there is to be no noodles bought to school for lunches due to the danger of having boiling water taken into the classrooms.
