Ms. Janene Barber, Physical Therapist, received her BS from the University of Missouri. Received
her Geriatric Training Certification in 2007. Twenty-nine years’ experience in Physical Therapy. She was also an
adjunct faculty at LSU and USA-Mobile. Have practiced in a variety of environments, from Hospital
Rehabilitation setting, Corporate Programs, Private Practice and Homecare.
Vice- president of Educational Development for Gentiva from 2000-2006. During that time developed the
nationally implemented and acclaimed program “Safe Strides”. Developed this first evidence based home care
balance and vestibular training program. Designed all materials, researched all evaluation tools and treatment
procedures. Instructed all staff therapists (over 600) in all aspects of the program. Also went on visits with
therapists to treat actual patients using the program. Helped to develop criteria to collect data on outcomes for the
program.
Vice- president of Clinical Programs for US Medical Management 2006-2008 Developed and implemented an
evidence based home care program spanning physicians and rehabilitation professionals. Worked closely with an
interdisciplinary team to design and execute this program. It is now successfully running in 7 states.
President of Cygnet Health Associates since 2009, providing education and training in geriatric assessment and
treatment specializing in balance disorders to Homecare and Long-Term Facility therapists, physicians and nurses.
