[SAK-2419] Breadcrumb doesnt appear quite right. Perhaps listing each page only once (either the first or last occurence) would keep this shorter and simpler, effectively making it a "recently visited" page. It's value is to go back to a previously-visited page (e.g. analogous to the Go menu in Firefox), so listing pages more than once doesn't help. Comments Comment by John Norman [ 02-Oct-2005 ] On reflection I agree with Stephen. I propose the following logic: As a new page is visited, it's name is added to the end of the 'breadcrumb'. If the name already exists in the breadcrumb, the previous entry is removed. In case it is not specified elsewhere, I also think there should be a permanent link to 'Home' somewhere on every page. Initially, this should take you to the first page created when adding the RWiki tool. In future versions we may want to make the location of 'Home' configurable... Comment by Ian Boston [ 07-Oct-2005 ] Spelling of ome on toolbar (sakai-beta build) Comment by John Norman [ 08-Oct-2005 ] The breadcrumb now is more like 'Recently visited pages' It seems to be working well on sakaibeta until you exceed 8 items. The trail starts OK: Home > Harriet's Pages > Page 1 But after 8 Items, it takes the form: View_right > ... > HOWTO-Pages > HOWTO-Public > CO Liaison > Stephen Marquards Com > AERC Test Page > HOWTO-Images > Recent Changes > Sakai Dev Meeting 200509 And whichever page is to the left of > ... > remains fixed while the trail to the right of > ... > is refreshing itself as one would expect. I imagine this is left over from when we were preserving 'Home' as the first entry. Now we have moved home to the menu bar this is unnecessary and is not working anyway. Probably the best solution is to have a fixed prefix/header that says 'Recently visited:' and then the behaviour to the right of > ... > Comment by Ian Boston [ 09-Oct-2005 ] Im not certain what the request is. Is it to change the dynamic part of the the breadcrumb to 'Reciently Visited: ...>' or to prefix the dynamic part (ii) '...>' with a static part 'Reciently Visited:' If is a fix for the current behaviour eg View right > .... > HOWTO-Pages, then I would prefer to implement a full fix ie (ii). Comment by Ian Boston [ 09-Oct-2005 ] Fixe in revision 28, should appear in sunday night build, please re-open if you want a prefix to the breadcrumb. Also fixed in the public view Comment by Stephen Marquard [ 02-Dec-2005 ] All looks fine, except in the public view with breadcrumbs enabled (edited URL for public view to breadcrumbs=1), where sometimes you get a double > showing up (i.e. > >), e.g.: "... > Help Page > > Sub3 > Sub6 > Sub8 > Sub4 > Sub7 > Subpage > Another Subpage" Comment by Ian Boston [ 21-Mar-2006 ] Now fixed, sorry for the delay, you need to go to the info page and select printer view. Breadcrumbs dont reallty make sense on the printer view Comment by Kevin Deckard [ 24-Mar-2006 ] Verified this on http://qa1-uk.sakaiproject.org:9085/portal, http://qa1us.sakaiproject.org:8580/portal, http://qa2-us.sakaiproject.org:9090/portal.
