Coral and Associated Benthic Species Harvest Trigger Point (as of 1 July 2009) For the purpose of monitoring to ensure the sustainable harvest of coral and associated benthic species, regional triggers were established in 2009. Three regions have been created in which a regional trigger of 20 tonnes per year is permitted for the total harvest of hard and soft coral, corallimorphs, anemones and live rock. If the total annual harvest of these aforementioned species for a region reaches the 20 tonnes within a licensing year the management arrangements must be reviewed to ensure sustainability. The three regions are: Carpentaria (from Cape Wilberforce to the QLD border), Arafura (from Cape Wilberforce to Cape Hotham), and Bonaparte Gulf (from Cape Hotham, including all of the Tiwi Islands, to the WA border).
