Brief course description
The aim of the course is to acquire knowledge of the biological
diversity of algae, fungi and lichens through the study of their
anatomy, morphology, reproduction, life cycle, ecology, taxonomy,
phylogenic correlation and evolution, as well as to understand the
importance of algae and fungi in daily life, theirs distribution in
various freshwater and marine ecosystems and the measures for
species and habitat protection. During the practice students will
adopt skills for sampling and taxonomic determination of species,
microscopic analysis of the cell structure and methods of growing
pure cultures.
