Key Qualifications

Dr. Maganga’s main areas of competence include Social Analysis of Development Projects;

Common Property Resource Management; Institutional Aspects of Natural Resource

Management; Beneficiary Assessments and Management of Resource Use Conflicts. He was closely involved in monitoring and evaluating MEMA and UTUMI projects in Iringa and

Lindi regions respectively. He also participated in Formulation and Review of the MEMA

Project; conducted a Beneficiary Assessment of the same project, before undertaking a 5month Socio-Economic Study of the UTUMI Project. He also participated in the Formulation of Danida PFM Component in 2002, and in 2004 he was involved in a review of royalty and revenue collection system for forest products in Lindi region. Since April 2003, Dr. Maganga has been the Regional Resource Person (Natural Resource Management) for Eastern and

Central Africa Programme for Agricultural Policy Analysis based in Entebbe Uganda, responsible for backstopping the ASARECA-ECAPAPA NRM Project on Conflict

Minimizing Strategies in 10 Eastern and Central African countries. He is also the team leader of a DFID-funded research project on Implications of Customary Laws for Implementing

Integrated Water Resource Management, which covers Tanzania, Zimbabwe and South

Africa.
