Walks



Old Town (can be done in an hour, but a few hours walk is recommended)
Round Djurgården (several hours of walk, but can be shortened)
The height of the South (Söders höjder)
 The Montelius scenic walk along the slopes of the Maria heights (view
over Stockholm) including the art galleries on Hornsgatan (1-2 hours).
 Walk via Mosebacke torg to the Ersta heights (view over Stockholm)
(about an hour)
Excursions
Boat to Vaxholm (about an hour there, an hour stop and an hour back)
Boat to Möja and walk between a few stops (takes all day)
Boat under the Stockholm bridges (one or two hours)
Boat tour to Drottningholm castle and the Drottningholm theatre (takes practically all day)
Visit to a Drottningholm theatre performance (unique theatre built 1762, UNESCO World
Heritage monument). Has to be booked long in advance!
Museums
 The conference dinner takes place at the Vasa Museum – a unique and very interesting
museum.
 The National Museum – free entrance and a good lunch restaurant
o Opening hours: tue, thu 11-20, wed, fri-sun, 11-17.
 The Modern Museum – free entrance and a good lunch restaurant
o Opening hours: tue - wed 10-20, thu-sun, 10-18.
 The East Asian Museum – free entrance to the rather small museum
o Opening hours tue 11-20, wed-sun, 11-17
 Combine one or two museums with a walk around the small Kastellholmen
 Carl Milles Museum in Lidingö (not free entrance). You reach it by tube (Ropsten)
followed by a short bus trip
o Opening hours tue - sun 12-17, thu, 12-20
 Historical museum with Viking gold exhibit – free entrance
o Opening hours daily 11-17, thu 11-20
 Skansen.
o Opening hours daily 10-16
Restaurants
Lunch restaurants usually cost 60-80 crowns for a reasonable meal including an ordinary dish
and bread, a drink and coffee.
