2013 MINNESOTA 4-H BREEDING BEEF
HEIFER SHOW
St. Paul, MN (08/23/13) - There was a total of 605 beef cattle shown at the 2013 Minnesota 4H Beef Show. The Breeding Heifer show was held on the first day of the Minnesota State Fair, Aug. 22nd.
Judging this year’s Beef Show was Neil Branscum of Nancy, Kentucky. Neal graduated from the
University of Kentucy in 2000, and currently works as a territory representative for the Elanco Animal
Health Division in Kentucky and Ohio. Neal has recently judged the Junior Beef Cattle Show at the North
American Livestock exposition in Louisville, and has judged many State Fairs and breed shows across the
country. His wife Rebekah, along with his two children, Ryder and Kat, own Ard Ridge Cattle Company.
The Supreme Champion Breeding Heifer was shown by Patrick O’Sullivan of Wright County and
was a Shorthorn. Dylan Celander of Martin County took overall Reserve Champion with his registered
Foundation Simmental. Third Overall is William O’Sullivan of Wright County with a Charolais heifer,
Fourth Overall is Grady Ruble of Freeborn County with a Maine-Anjou heifer, and Fifth Overall is
Rebecca Church of Washington County with a Limousin heifer.
