Job purpose
The post holder will champion new technology-enhanced learning approaches and work with
academic and professional staff across the University to embed the use of new technologies
and drive the implementation of innovative teaching methods across the wide range of
programmes offered by the University. Along with colleagues in the e-Learning Team, the
post holder will focus on providing high quality support (pedagogical and operational) to staff
and ensure that the learning technologies and systems contribute to an excellent student
experience and assist in the delivery of the University’s strategic objectives.
Source and nature of management provided
The successful candidate will report and be accountable to the Head of e-Learning, although
on specific projects, they will be accountable to the Moodle Operations Manager.

Main duties and responsibilities
1. Champion, promote and support the integration of innovative uses of technologies to
enhance the student learning experience. This will include thinking creatively,
designing, implementing and evaluating a number projects and supporting
individuals and groups engaging with these at all levels of the institution.
2. Support the implementation of the institutional VLE (Moodle) and other learning
technologies, in ways which deliver a high quality, well-maintained and accessible
range of virtual learning spaces for all students.
3. Provide a highly professional service that meets the needs of the academic
community.

4. Manage large scale projects (for example, MOOCs) and operate across the
University in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
5. Focus on building and strengthening staff capabilities by developing and delivering elearning/digital literacies aspects of the University's central staff development
programme, including workshops and seminars, to promote the pedagogical and
operational embedding of learning technologies and across the University.
6. Identifying and evaluating e-tools, new approaches to e-learning and the embedding
of digital literacies in the academic context. This will require taking the lead role in
institution wide e-learning projects.
7. Liaising with colleagues from the LTEO, Computing Services, Web Services, Library
and academic departments to ensure an integrated approach to the University's elearning provision.
8. Providing one to one and group support for academics seeking to enhance learning
and teaching practices through the use of technology.
9. Contribute to writing proposals for external funding that complement the work of the
LTEO and University of Bath.
10. Research and produce web, multimedia and print support material on aspects of
digital literacies and e-learning in general.
11. Keep up to date with research into the areas of education and learning technology
and engage in relevant activities which promote exploration and extend our
understanding of sector practices.
12. Maintaining and updating the e-learning related websites and aspects of the LTEO
and other relevant websites on a regular basis.
