Primero… ¡Vamos a España! Scenario: Imagine that you work in a travel agency here in the United States. You and your team of co-workers are pitching a big promotional trip to Spain to increase your summer revenue. You must inform local travelers (aka your classmates) about a certain region in Spain and convince them to take a trip and discover the beauty and culture of Spain. Assignment: In a group of 3-4 students, you must prepare a persuasive presentation about a region of Spain. Your classmates will be taking notes during each presentation and will be tested on the regions of Spain upon completion of all presentations. Each group is responsible for informing the class about the following topics: General facts about the region (geography, language, key cities, important rivers or mountains, etc) Places of Interest (minimum of 5) Cultural events of Interest (celebrations, fairs, special holidays, etc) Famous people (writers, artists, actors, singers, etc) who were born, lived, or studied in your region Music Traditional foods of your region Responsibilities: As a group you may divide up the topics equally according to individual interests. Each member must then research his/her portion of the project, but also share the research with the rest of the group. Each member of the group must be an expert on the entire region by the presentation date. Class Hand-out/Multiple Choice Questions: You must develop a note-taking aid for your classmates. Be sure to include a space for all areas of your presentation. This is a note-taking AID… not an informational sheet about your region. You must also submit 10 multiple choice questions about the various aspects of your region. A blank copy AND a completed copy of your hand-out and your multiple choice questions must be turned in to your teacher on ________________________________. Oral Presentation: You may choose any style of presentation as long as all of the information about the region is clearly presented. You can lure a pedestrian in from the street into your travel agency. You can create a commercial on the travel channel. You can create a power point presentation for a group of Spanish students interested in traveling abroad. Be creative and have fun with this! Each person must speak for an equal amount of time. You may have note cards to prompt you during the presentation, but no reading! Know the order of your speakers. Be sure to practice as a group. Remember that your classmates must understand your Spanish. Be cautious of new vocabulary that you encountered in your research. All presentations will be performed live in class. Visual Aids: You can’t convince people to take a trip without some great pictures! You must include several visual aids and use them as an integral part of your presentation. The bigger… the better so that everyone can see. Please let your teacher know a week in advance if you choose to do a power point presentation*. *Power point must be VISUALS ONLY!
