To celebrate the 103rd BLOOMSDAY, The James Joyce Centre has planned
a full week of activities, music, film, lectures, readings and more. So this year
Bloomsday will be the longest ‘day’ of the year!

Straight from the pages of Ulysses, the most historic breakfast in Dublin will be
served at the James Joyce Centre Come join us to celebrate Joyce's
comic masterpiece, Ulysses, and share Leopold Bloom's celebrated morning.
Guinness and a traditional, full Irish Breakfast will be served as actors delight with
readings and song.
Advance booking is required, tickets €26
BLOOMSDAY READINGS

The James Joyce Centre is delighted to continue its long tradition of dramatic
readings by local celebrities and Joyce enthusiasts. Join us in front of the Centre to
watch and hear characters and the story of Ulysses come alive. Coffee, tea and
pastries will be available for purchase throughout the morning.

JOYCE IN VOICE

Direct from Glasgow, the four members of Joyce in Voice will bring their superb
voices and harmonies to Dublin as well as their great sense of fun. Dressed in period
costume, Joyce in Voice will sing the music from Ulysses with great style and
panache, Colin Taylor - piano, Harry Campbell - tenor, Jemma Brown - alto,
Fiona Campbell - Soprano.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM A NEW MUSICAL by composer/lyricist Jonathan Brielle
For one night only, audiences in Dublin will have a sneak peak at a new musical
headed for London's West End and for Broadway. On Bloomsday evening, 16th
June, at 8pm Jonathan Brielle will present highlights of his new musical, Himself and
Nora. Brielle is determined to bring the real-life story of Nora Barnacle and James
Joyce's love, laughter and song to Dublin before his next full scale production.

Joyce: The Journey Home is a documentary on the restoration of No 35 North
Great George's Street.
The Trials of Ulysses tells the story of Joyce's epic novel, Ulysses. Filmed in
Europe and United States, the film recounts the book's early battles against charges
of obscenity and Joyce's struggle to get his work published

Dublin Day, a new film by director, George Morrison.

From the acclaimed director of Mise Éire comes the new film Dublin Day. It is a
Joycean celebration of the City of Dublin in all its aspects: comprising both the city
today and as it was at the turn of the 20th century.

IN MEDIAS RES - AN EXHIBITION BY DAVID LILBURN

To celebrate Bloomsday, Irish artist David Lilburn will exhibit In Medias Res,
a multi-layered work that sets out map both the Dublin of James Joyce's Ulysses and
the contemporary city. David Lilburn will be available to talk to visitors about his
monumental work.

BLOOMSDAY CABARET & PERFORMANCE

In the unique documentary film, Bloomsday Cabaret, Moulin Rouge meets
Bloomsday in a fascinating exploration of music in the life and writing of
James Joyce. Celebrated Dublin singer, Paul Harrington, will be on hand for a
special live performance following the screening.

MOLLY SAYS NO!

Molly Bloom in her own words - and music. Judith Mok - soprano , Kevin Sharpe piano.
Molly Says No ! is a dramatic recital, which aims to show a different side to Joyce's
heroine, Molly Bloom. In this magical evening world famous Dutch soprano Judith
Mok will perform the music Molly Bloom would have loved including works by Mozart,
Bizet and Schubert.

THE ORIGINS OF ULYSSES talk by Terence Killeen

JOYCE’S VOLTA CINEMA & BEYOND – A GUIDED WALKING TOUR

This tour visits James Joyce’s Volta cinema (opened 1909 as Ireland’s very first
dedicated picture house) as well as a further 15 historic cinemas in Dublin’s city
centre ranging from early conversions of Georgian buildings to lavish Art Deco
venues, giving a detailed account of their cultural history, architecture and
significance.

Throughout the Bloomsday celebrations many walking tours will take place including
Uncrowned Kings & Bronze by Gold, Dubliners, In the Footsteps of Leopold
