GRADUATION INFORMATION 2014
Dear Member of the Class of 2014:
The end of this school year signals the beginning of unprecedented excitement and great
anticipation for our seniors at Verdugo Hills High School. These are truly memorable times, and the
Verdugo Hills Faculty and Staff are committed to making this chapter in your life a memorable one. I
want to take this opportunity to wish you the best in all of your future endeavors. You have been a
great senior class and have helped carry on the traditions of Verdugo Hills High School. Thank you
for your cooperation and support.
I am sure you are experiencing mixed emotions at this time. As you leave the security of Verdugo
Hills High School and pursue your goals, you may be uncertain of what the future will bring. These
feelings are natural, but I am confident that Verdugo Hills High School has provided you the
education necessary to reach the next level. You now need to do your part by setting challenging
goals, exhibiting a strong work ethic, always striving to be the best that you can be, and never giving
up. I’m sure you are looking forward to college, technical school, the military or the work force.
The next milestone is graduation. Mandatory graduation practice will be Wednesday morning, June
4, 2014 beginning in Mc Groarty Auditorium at 8:00 a.m. Attendance is mandatory. Students will
report to their counselor. Please anticipate that graduation practice will take 3 hours. After the
dismissal, seniors may finish getting signatures for their Senior Clearance Forms. Following the
graduation practice, the Verdugo Hills Administration and Faculty will host the 2014 Senior Breakfast
in Keltner Glen. After the breakfast, seniors may pick-up cap/gown order and graduation tickets in
the Quad in alphabetical order by last name. Fully completed Senior Clearance Forms must be
turned in to receive cap/gown order and graduation tickets. You are then dismissed.
On Thursday, June 5, 2014, seniors are expected to report to Kersey Field at Turner Stadium at 8:00
a.m. for graduation practice. You are expected to be back for graduation no later than 5:45 p.m. on
Thursday, June 5, 2014, in Mc Groarty Auditorium. Seniors will be searched before they line-up in
alphabetical order by counselor. The ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. Remind your family and
friends to please anticipate some traffic and difficulty in parking. We ask that family and guests
should try to be seated around 6:15 p.m. so that the ceremony may begin promptly and without a
distraction for the graduates. Tickets are required for anyone 5 years or older. No exceptions.
Verdugo Hills High School Students Will Be: Critical Thinkers, Effective Communicators,
Responsible & Self-directed Leaders/Members of Society, and Collaborative & Socially Responsible Citizens
(ESLRs)
An added bonus for this year … you will be photographed by a professional photographer as you
receive your diploma. It is such a keepsake memorable moment; Verdugo Hills High School wants it
to be preserved in the best way possible. Please let your parents or guardians know this so they may
purchase your individual photographs.
Please read the attached letter as it contains important information about upcoming activities,
graduation, and guidelines for you and your guests. Put this letter in a safe place and review it
before graduation day. Be sure to share this information with your parents, guardians and guests
attending the graduation ceremony.
Congratulations, Seniors!
Sincerely,
Dr. Edward Trimis
